#SaveProClubs is currently trending on Twitter. The background is the missing crossplay function for the Pro Clubs mode in FIFA 23. Although there is crossplay in the new part of the football simulation for the first time, it is only with a few restrictions. Among other things, you can only gamble with and against each other in 1-on-1 or in 2-player co-op across different platforms. Crossplay would have been particularly important for pro clubs.

Fans are disappointed by the missing function and get a reaction from EA

EA reacts: The development team noticed the outcry on social media under the hashtag #SaveProClubs. In a Message to the fans, EA promises to work on a crossplay feature for pro clubs.

While we’re excited about the first steps towards introducing new crossplay features in FIFA 23, we also recognize what crossplay functionality could mean for Pro Clubs mode to improve matchmaking and let friends play together on different platforms of the same generation allow. […] Therefore our crossplay focus going forward will be matchmaking in Pro Clubs, Volta and FUT co-op as well as cross-platform lobby invites and ultimately cross-platform Pro Clubs.

Game Design Director Richard Walz

When is the feature coming? So crossplay will definitely be integrated for pro clubs at some point, but the question is if that will still be the case in FIFA 23. The statements leave the date open. EA could release an update at some point or we’ll have to wait until next year when FIFA of EA Sports FC is replaced.

Why would crossplay have been so important? Pro Clubs is one of the game variants with the greatest potential in FIFA, which is why many in the community wish the mode to receive more attention. Because up to 22 players can gamble together at Pro Clubs, it would have been particularly important to expand the pool and connect several platforms.

This is new in pro clubs

The biggest change in Pro Clubs might be the connection with the street football mode VOLTA. You can now use your individually created players in both game variants and the progress will also be shared:

This year we’ve developed features that bring the Pro Clubs and VOLTA experiences closer together so that no matter how you and your friends choose to play on any given day, you’ll progress.

So there are experience points for your own Virtual Pro, whether you are playing a real 11-on-11 match or playing mini-games in VOLTA. This also applies to the progression of the “Battle Pass”, which now offers 100 levels that can be used to unlock clothes and other items.

Other new additions include fresh traits to equip pros for different playstyles and post-match awards given to the best footballers. In VOLTA, on the other hand, a number of new mini-games, special abilities and a larger stadium await you.

FIFA 23 will be released on September 30, 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Would you have been happy about crossplay in pro clubs?
