The streaming platform Netflix has been doing a lot to gain a foothold in the gaming sector for about two years and offers its subscribers many free games, some of which are very good. However, as a report now shows, almost nobody uses Netflix’s gaming offer.

With Netflix Games The streaming service has a whole range of video games in its collection that are freely available to subscribers in unlimited form without additional fees. In the future, Netflix could even become a games publisher itself. Because at the end of 2021 you were already taking the studio Night School into its gaming team on.

As of late last year, users have access to games such as Stranger Things: The Game, Stranger Things 3: The Game, Card Blast, Teeter Up, Shooting Hoops and over 25 mobile games. These can be downloaded for free via the Netflix app. As a Report from CNBC shows, but hardly any Netflix users take advantage of the large gaming offer.

Less than 1% use the Netflix Gaming offer

As CNBC reports using data from app analytics company Apptopia, the Netflix games downloaded just over 23 million times and have an average daily user count of 1.7 million. While that looks good at first glance, those numbers are basically a drop in the bucket compared to Netflix’s 221 million subscribers.

This data shows that approximately 200 million people who have access to Netflix’s library of games are not currently playing them, or perhaps don’t even know they exist. Those responsible at Netflix certainly hoped for more from the gaming offer. In the second quarter of 2022, Netflix lost almost a million subscribers, after 200,000 subscribers canceled in the first quarter.
