Thymesia is a Soulslike that relies on the dark Bloodborne look.

At the moment there is a general release slump when it comes to larger titles, but did you have in mind that a new Soulslike would be released next week? Thymesia is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on August 18th and may be of interest to those of you who are looking for a fresh supply of action RPGs. We tell you what is known about the game so far.

Thymesia combines elements of different Soulslikes

It’s all about this: What we have seen of Thymesia so far is, at first glance, very reminiscent of Bloodborne. Our protagonist Corvus is a mysterious guy whose face is hidden behind a classic plague mask. No wonder, since his opponents are mutants corrupted by a plague.

Fixed main character with different skills: On the other hand, the fact that we set off with a fixed protagonist instead of assembling our own character is more reminiscent of Sekiro. Also the fact that we can unlock abilities for Corvus is more in line with that from title. (via IGN)

Own ideas – not a mere clone

However, Thymesia does not want to be a mere Souls or Bloodborne clone, but also has its own peculiarities in terms of gameplay and especially the fights.

Different weapon types and damage types: Perhaps the most interesting thing is that we have to use different types of weapons to inflict different types of damage. Our light saber deducts life points from the opponent and thus reduces his white life bar. Underneath, however, a green life bar appears. We have to reduce this with heavy claw attacks before the enemy has healed again. The green area will be filled again until it has been completely removed with the claw and the bar is colorless.

More on Souls and Soulslikes:

In addition to these two types of weapons, there is a third type, namely the plague weapons. These are the typical enemy weapons that Corvus can unlock as he defeats enemies and collects shards. This arsenal includes, for example, a scythe or a halberd.

The general feeling of struggle should reward an aggressive fighting style. There is no stamina bar. How quickly moves can be lined up, on the other hand, is more dependent on their animations.

Matching the mask’s beak shape, Corvus can also smash feathers at opponents in battle, which apparently work like throwing knives and can interrupt enemy attacks.

How do you like Thymesia at first sight? Will you keep an eye on this Soulslike?
