Throne and Liberty is due out later this year and could become the next big MMORPG. Rumor has it that Amazon is a possible publisher. This would make it the 3rd major MMORPG Amazon is bringing to Steam after New World and Lost Ark.

NCSoft started developing Throne and Liberty back in 2011. It should finally appear in 2022. According to that South Korean financial magazine Money Today The developers are currently negotiating with Amazon. So Amazon could possibly become the publisher of the MMORPG and sell it in Europe and North America.

As a publisher, Amazon has had great success with Smilegate’s MMORPG Lost Ark since the beginning of the year.

According to Money Today, a cooperation with NCSoft is very likely, but not yet certain. It could also lead to a postponement of the release in the West. Then Throne and Liberty will probably be released in Korea at the end of 2022 and in Europe and North America in 2023.

NCSoft is currently testing the game internally, while refusing to comment on the rumors regarding Amazon as the publisher.

What kind of game is this? Throne and Liberty is a new MMORPG currently being developed with Unreal Engine 4. You can play not only on the PC, but also on the consoles. The developers are planning releases for Playstation and Xbox. In an interview, the developers have already revealed a few details about the gameplay.

Throne and Liberty features:

  • The MMORPG throws you into an open game world.
  • You create your character, but you don’t belong to any fixed class. Instead, you equip two weapons that determine your playstyle. You can level up the weapons and improve them later.
  • The story of the MMORPG is in focus. The main story runs through the entire game, while there are individual stories to be discovered in each area.
  • Classic PvE with bosses and dungeons play an important role, but so does PvP content.
  • There is a lot of content that you have to master together with other players. Guilds are therefore important.

When NCSoft started development 11 years earlier, the game was still going to be called Lineage Eternal. The publisher didn’t like this version of the game, a hybrid for PC and mobile, and was taken offline again for the first time in 2017. In development, it is said to have already devoured more than 75 million euros.

What will it cost? Throne and Liberty will be either Free2Play or Buy2Play. In any case, there will be a shop. However, NCSoft promise that this will do without Pay2Win. They want players’ efforts to be rewarded. However, players who only play a few hours a week should be able to use the shop to unlock the game.
