Overwatch 2: The end of the loot boxes is certain

Overwatch 2 (Shooter) von Blizzard Entertainment

Blizzard casually announces when loot boxes will disappear to usher in Overwatch 2’s new Battle Pass system. However, we still have an opportunity to collect the boxes.

So the announced end of the loot boxes is only limited to their sale. Beginning August 30, Blizzard will no longer offer the cosmetic-only crates in the in-game store. Nevertheless, we still have the option of earning the loot boxes by playing matches before they are later to disappear completely from the scene.

Overwatch 2 Loot Box Sale ends with Anniversary Remix Vol. 3 event

The third edition of the Anniversary Remix event is Blizzard’s way of cleaning up the end of the first part of its team shooter. We get the opportunity to earn various cosmetics again, or simply purchase them before Overwatch 2 is released on October 4th. This includes skins and other cosmetic items that we already know from previous Overwatch Challenge events.

We take part in so-called brawls, in which we can experience certain game modes and story missions again. These include, for example, Uprising or the popular Summer Games mode Lucioball. As part of the announcement within a blog post, Blizzard now announced that they no longer want to sell loot boxes after the end of the event. However, we can still collect the standard boxes after August 30th, to be precise, until Overwatch 2 celebrates its final release with next-gen features (and nerfs) the following month.

Halloween, Christmas and New Year in summer

As always, the Anniversary Remix event has a lot to offer. As already mentioned, several game modes from past holidays and seasons are mixed up wildly in order to celebrate a varied and, above all, fun finale of the first part of Overwatch. We can face Junkenstein’s revenge in the Halloween terror, kick the Lucioball into the opponent’s goal in summer temperatures or put our opponents on ice in Mei’s snowball offensive. The Lunar New Year event’s Capture the Flag mode will add some excitement to the games.

So that we don’t lose motivation with all the offers, there are weekly rewards that we can dust off. The story missions add extra fun by allowing us to stand alongside the heroes from Overwatch to ensure the future of the world as Tracer, Winston and Co. know it. Speaking of the future: Of course, you can also find out from us how Blizzard actually wants to deal with the loot box content that has already been collected from the first part of Overwatch 2.
