The Splatoon 3 Direct presentation was 30 minutes long, and it was pretty damn long.
A lot of news and information was presented during this time, including maps, weapons and the future after the release of the game.
What happened during the Splatoon 3 Direct

- Improved Turf War Gameplay: In the turf battles, two teams of four fight to mark the largest area in their team’s color in three minutes. There are also new techniques such as the wall jump, which you use to jump off a wall, or the squid roll, which helps you out of sticky situations. If the character lights up, it fends off the opposing color.
- New and Familiar Arenas: Well-known arenas like Striped Eel Street, Sengkluft, Aalstahl-Metalwerk and Razor Clam Reservoir will be there, as well as new ones like Snapper Bazaar and well-known Inkopolis arenas like Pinakoithek, Mackerel Bridge and Mahi-Mahi-Resort, at launch There are twelve arenas, with more to come later through free updates.

- The Splatfests are back: At the Splatfests you indicate one of three possible preferences on a topic. The topic you belong to represents the same preference. Fights within a set period of time then determine the winner. Each Splatfest consists of two parts: the first half consists of 4vs4 turf battles, the second half consists of the new three-color battles with three teams.
- Splatoon 3: Splatfest World Premiere: The Splatfest World Premiere will take place on August 27, 2022. From August 18th you can already download a free demo in the eShop and choose between scissors, rock and paper. Select modes will be playable starting August 25th.
- The main weapons in the Splatsville district: All main weapons from previous games are available from the start. There are also some new ones, such as the Tri-Stringer, which fires in three directions at once. Charged shots that freeze briefly and then explode are also possible. With the wiper splatana you squirt saber blows of color. If you charge it up, you can perform a charge slash.
- Special Weapons: Some weapons can only be used when a sufficient area has been marked with your own color, including the potion tank. When it is activated, a fridge appears with drinks that increase the stats of the respective team. The Shower Wave creates pressure waves in the area, and the Shark Hammer is a float that rapidly advances, shocking enemies with explosions of color. Well-known special weapons such as the swarm rockets, the ink jet, the ink shower, the ultra stamp and the cool bullet are also included.
- Battle Modes: In anarchy battle you fight for a place on the leaderboard. There are four different modes that are played alternately: Domination, Tower Command, Operation Goldfish and Shell Chaos. Anarchy Battle (Series) is for solo players, Anarchy Battle (Open) is for those who want to play in a team. You can customize the private fight to your liking and for the first time you can continue playing in an existing group when a match is over. With the Inkcade, multiple people can team up via local connection and fight in different modes.
- The Biggest Salmon Run So Far: In the cooperative Salmon Run, four players work together to collect fish eggs. You will encounter nasty opponents like the new Deckler and Kanonya. A Big Run takes place every month, during which the salmonids invade the city.
- Return of the Mammalian: In the new story mode, you will familiarize yourself with the types of combat and weapons. You will also discover the secrets of Alterna, the fluffy plasma and the connection to the return of the Mammalian.
- Lobby Features: Online friends appear as 3D holograms in the lobby. If you form a team, you can see what the others are doing. Battle Memories allow you to review your most recent battles in full, including from opponents’ perspectives.
- Customize using catalogue: At the start of a battle, you’ll see splashtags that you can customize with a title, background, and badge. You can also customize the emote that is displayed after a win. All of this is available in the in-game catalogue. There you exchange the points you have gained for items such as equipment and effect fragments.
- station deck: In the Revierdecks Dojo on the empty lot in Splatsville you fight Revierdecks Battles. In this card game, two people compete against each other and can use more than 150 cards.
- SplatNet 3: The online service is available in the app on smart devices. There you can see statistics, order in-game gear and more. With the shrimpson tour you can support shrimpson on his journey with won dye points.
- New amiibo: Three new Splatoon 3 amiibo figures are coming this winter: Octoling Boy, Inkling Girl and Salmini. Those who use it can save their favorite gear in-game as a favorite style. She also gives you access to exclusive gear and you can take photos with her in-game.
