Star Wars Andor: This inspiration is behind the series
At the September 21, 2022 starts with Star Wars Andor the next series from the popular sci-fi universe DisneyPlus. In the story everything will revolve around Cassian Andor turn, the fans certainly still from Rogue One know. As in the film, becomes an actor Diego Luna to be seen in the leading role again. What is exciting, however, is what inspiration the makers got for the series. In an interview with SFX magazine, showrunner Tony Gilroy talked about.
Andor meets Jason Bourne
Lucasfilm and Disney want one with Andor slightly different atmosphere create. Instead of bombastic fights in which the hero kills dozens of enemies single-handedly, the series should shift down a gear and put more emphasis on espionage. This also applies to Tony Gilroy, who is a past writer for the Jason Bourne series was responsible. Even with these action films, bombastic image effects are not quite as much in focus as is the case with James Bond, for example.
“It was about making it real. Having someone you really understand and really care about – in a place that you know the geography of, including the stakes, [die auf dem Spiel stehen] – you feel a lot more involved than with a guy standing on a train with 15 submachine guns while a helicopter crashes in the background. That aesthetic, that idea, carries over to Andor because we keep our feet on the ground with these guys. Everything we do has an intimacy within the grandeur of Star Wars.” – said Tony Gilroy in conversation.
Where is Andor located in the timeline?
Since it is a prequel to Rogue One, Andor’s story takes place around five years before the movie. The creators want to show all this time in the series. While season 1 – the out total twelve episodes – only busy with year 1, then the second season is about years 2 – 5. A sequel with twelve episodes has already been confirmed. By the way, at the start of Andor on September 21st there will be direct three episodes.
