The First Descendant: Free Co-op Shooter in UE5 is reminiscent of Destiny, only a lot prettier
The First Descendant offers UE5 action for free.
There are now tons of presentations for Unreal Engine 5, but the projects are mostly just demos or they won’t appear for many years. That’s why UE5 games that are very far advanced in development are particularly interesting. This also includes The First Descendant from the South Korean publisher Nexon.
A teaser was released for the multiplayer shooter, which looks great and shows us what games can look like soon. The characters are incredibly detailed and the environments are photorealistic. Even if you don’t know what to do with the game itself, the impressive trailer is worth a look:

Free2Play meets co-op shooter: Nexon specializes in multiplayer titles with a Free2Play model – the publisher’s best-known project to date is Arc Raiders. The First Descendant is not only free, but will probably be supplied with new content for years to come, because this is a looter shooter in the style of Destiny, Anthem or Outriders. How long the game is kept alive depends on success, of course.

This is how the title plays: At the moment, The First Descendant feels like the best of the looter shooter genre. The fights are reminiscent of Outriders, the dynamics and freedom of movement of Anthem and the design of Destiny. Just like the role models, the title is based on cooperation – in teams with up to four “Descendants” you can throw yourselves into battles.
You can choose between various characters, each offering a different play style. This can be further customized with weapons as well as additional items and abilities. Of course, there will also be many skins that you can use to change the look of your avatar.

More at gamescom: The First Descendant does not yet have an exact release date. However, that could change soon, because the shooter is to be presented in more detail at gamescom 2022 (via gamerant). A beta on Steam is also planned for October, as you can see from the clip attached above. As of now, The First Descendant is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
