Train Sim World 3: Train Simulation comes directly to Xbox Game Pass

The next evolution of train simulation arrives on September 6th, 2022 and lands directly in Xbox Game Pass.

Dovetail Games, developer and publisher of authentic simulation titles, announces the next step in the Train Sim World franchise: Train Sim World 3, out September 6th for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The title will also be published in Xbox Game Pass and is therefore available as a subscription for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PCs and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Train Sim World 3 aims to break new ground in realism with new weather dynamics, longer routes and a dedicated training center aimed at new and experienced players alike.

The latest version will also support Train Sim World 2 add-ons, allowing players to bring all the routes and locomotives they own into Train Sim World 3 to continue playing some of their favorite content.

Improved weather system: Train Sim World 3 features a brand new dynamic weather system that creates beautiful volumetric skies, supported by a new lighting system that increases realism and immersion in the world of train driving.

Trains can now be driven through extreme weather conditions – snow, thunderstorms and even the dreaded foliage on the track, changing the driving experience and forcing players to pay close attention to track conditions. Foliage on the track, while tiny compared to the mighty machines, poses serious challenges for drivers as it can significantly reduce the friction between wheels and rails that trains need to haul their heavy cargo or passenger loads.

New training center: In addition, the new training center provides a place to learn how to drive the locomotives included in Train Sim World 3 on a brand new route. With new players constantly wanting to learn the world of trains, and with new locomotives being added for experienced players, this feature is intended to help all players get started with the satisfying experience of driving large, powerful machines.

“For Train Sim World 3, the team has done a great job of improving and expanding the immersive experience of our previous titles. The new lighting system will change the visuals along with all new weather dynamics that will significantly affect the operation of the trains in the game,” says Matt Peddlesden, Executive Producer at Dovetail Games. “This, along with the development of our dedicated training center to guide players through the controls, will bring new and exciting challenges to Train Sim World 3 for existing players while also providing a fun introduction to the world of railroading for newcomers.”

Three new routes: Three routes demonstrate the diversity of railway operations around the world. A popular route for railroad fans, California’s Cajon Pass provides the grades needed to challenge BNSF’s ES44C4 and SD40-2 locomotives as they haul some of America’s longest trains from San Bernardino to Barstow.

In Europe, performance translates into pure speed as players focus on piloting the German ICE 3 and ICE 1 bullet trains over viaducts and through tunnels that form the longest route ever created in Train Sim World: the 187 kilometers long route from Kassel to Würzburg. Speed is also the focus on the expanded and improved version of the fan-favorite Southeastern Highspeed route, which maps the English county of Kent between London, Ashford and Dartford and the Chatham main line.

Britain’s fastest domestic passenger train, the Class 395 ‘Javelin’ joins the slower but no less exciting Class 375 and 465 EMUs on the busy commuter routes south-east of the capital. Players of Train Sim World 2 and its add-ons can continue to take advantage of the numerous tracks and locomotives, ensuring a smooth transition between titles.

Future add-ons will also “decouple” locomotives from their routes, allowing more freedom in operating purchased locomotives outside of their intended environment. A selection of introductory packs will be available, from the ‘Starter Packs’ which include the brand new Training Center and a track expansion, to the Deluxe Edition which includes an enhanced version of the highly anticipated Spirit Of Steam add-on, the Released for Train Sim World 2 earlier this year, it brought steam locomotives to the game for the first time.

A notice: Train Sim World 2 tracks and locomotives are compatible with Train Sim World 3 but do not include the new features.

Train Sim World 3 was developed by Dovetail Games and will be released on September 6th, 2022 for Windows PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The title is available to pre-order digitally now on Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store.

The Deluxe Edition is available for EUR 59.99 and four starter packs for EUR 35.99 each. The “Deluxe Edition” can be pre-ordered with a discount of 10 percent. For all pre-orders, Dovetail Games will grant a 4-day early access pass to the game, as well as a bonus sticker pack that can be used in the livery editor to share in the Creators Club.
