Hogwarts Legacy: Release date is set – but it’s later than expected

There has been no shortage of teasers and announcements about Hogwarts Legacy in recent weeks. However, the developers did not answer for a long time: Until recently, although 2022 had been buzzing through the net as a release period for a long time, there was no specific release date. At least this wait is over now, but the Harry Potter offshoot comes later than expected.

As Avalanche Software announced on Twitter, Hogwarts Legacy will be released on February 10, 2023 for Playstation, Xbox and PC. Players who want to make the magic school known from Harry Potter unsafe on the Nintendo Switch seem to have to be patient longer. In this context, there is no release date yet. At least Avalanche promises to announce this “soon”.

Hogwarts Legacy not until 2023: Release postponement indicated

Players had already expected the postponement to the coming year. If the game were to appear in the current year, there would have to be a date a long time ago, according to the accusation that is often heard. And that’s how it happened. The developers state that they want to give players the best possible gaming experience. As so often, the game still needs a little fine-tuning. That probably can’t do any harm, as hasty releases have already irreparably damaged quite a few brands.

Specifically, the developers write: “Hogwarts Legacy will be released on February 10, 2023 for Playstation, Xbox and PC. The release date for Nintendo Switch will be announced soon. The team is really looking forward to you playing, but we still need something more time to provide the best gaming experience possible.”

Hopes for a 2022 release are based in particular on an art book that is given as the release date at the beginning of December. According to Amazon, said artbook will not be released until December 31, but this is probably a placeholder. With the postponement of Hogwarts Legacy, the companion book will probably appear later.
