Tempest Rising: Classic RTS à la C&C announced, escalates the Cuban Missile Crisis

Are you in the mood for classic real-time strategy à la C&C again? The newly announced Tempest Rising looks like it’s the closest thing to a modern day Command & Conquer.

Splitgate Ironworks is developing the title in Denmark and promises classic RTS gameplay with combat and base building.

Multiple factions and campaigns

According to publisher THQ Nordic, there are three asymmetric factions with their own economies, playstyles, and units.

You can also expect two campaigns including a cutscene between the missions and a multiplayer mode is of course also included.

“Experience Tempest Rising, a classic real-time strategy game in an exciting, alternative war scenario,” it says. “After the escalation of the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1997, a nuclear third world war was inevitable. All former superpowers were quickly brought to their knees in the shortest and most devastating conflict known to mankind.”

“The fuel for this war is a new powerful substance that can be harnessed as an energy source: Tempest. Three different factions are engaged in a desperate struggle for power and resources and it is up to you which faction you choose.”

Tempest Rising is in development for PC. A release date is not yet known, but you can play it at THQ Nordic at gamescom 2022.
