RTX 3000 and RX 6000: High-end GPUs still well below RRP – prices in the USA are already falling further

Radeon RX 7000: Navi 31 GCD allegedly with 350 mm² [Gerücht]

The term “high-end graphics cards” will certainly be put into perspective when the next generation gradually puts out feelers. Nevertheless, they are currently the fastest you can get for your money. And apparently you get more computing power than ever for it these days. The Radeon RX 6950 XT, Geforce RX 3090 Ti and Co. have been below the recommended retail price for a long time now. In the USA, prices have now fallen again – and may well continue to do so in this country.

Especially the segment below 1,000 euros should be mentioned here. WCCF Tech found, for example, that you can now get two different models of the Radeon RX 6900 XT for around $700. The price is now a whopping 30 percent below the MSRP of $999. The “Raise The Game” bundle from AMD – consisting of Saints Row, Forspoken, Sniper Elite 5 – also upgrades the graphics cards.

On the Nvidia side, colleagues noticed that a Geforce RTX 3080 Ti in the form of the Gigabyte Gaming OC is changing hands for just $869.99. This offer is 28 percent below the recommended retail price. Colleagues had previously observed that EVGA’s Geforce RTX 3090 Ti was well below the RRP: the pixel accelerator recently cost $1,149 instead of $2,149. Almost all variants of the RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti are now in the $1,100 range.

Geforce RTX 3090 Ti and Radeon RX 6950 XT: the price premium for top models can no longer be justified

In this country, there had already been significant price reductions for high-end GPUs in the past few weeks. So costs the loud price comparison cheapest available Geforce RTX 3090 Ti, a Palit Game Rock, from 1,398.99 euros upwards. It has been around this level for a good three weeks. Meanwhile the starts Palit Geforce RTX 3090 Gaming Pro GDDR6X, again the cheapest model in its class, at 1,229.90 euros. At the end of July it was 100 euros less. With only 999 euros is the Inno 3D Geforce RTX 3080 Ti X3 under the magic 1,000 euro threshold. Although it was available at a lower price in the meantime, it has basically been at the current price level for weeks. Nvidia officially estimates 2,249 euros for the RTX 3090 Ti, 1,649 euros for the Geforce RTX 3090 and 1,269 euros for the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti.

One Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 6950 XT meanwhile goes from 1,144.89 over the virtual counter, the XFX Speedster SWFT 319 Radeon RX 6900 XT Core Gaming from 885 euros and the Powercolor Radeon RX 6800 XT Red Dragon from 749 euros. On the AMD side, there hasn’t been that much movement lately. It is exciting that the two flagships are well below the recommended retail price of 1,239 euros and 1,000 euros, while the Radeon RX 6800 XT exceeds the RRP of 649 euros by a good 100 euros. Things are looking better again in the middle class – but not nearly as good as in the high-end squad. the cheapest Radeon RX 6700 XT for example, at 459 euros, it is only slightly below the official asking price of 479 euros. With Nvidia it is similar in the upper class, because there it costs an RTX 3080 with 10 GiByte at least 799 euros, although the RRP is 719. 489 euros are included a Geforce RTX 3060 Ti – It would be 399 euros according to the RRP.

Apparently, price surcharges on top models, whose often only small performance advantages cost manufacturers and retailers a disproportionate amount of money, can no longer be justified a good nine months after the launch of the first RX 6000 and RTX 30 graphics cards. In the case of the upper and middle classes, which were fairly priced from the start, retailers still have room for surcharges.
