In August, Sony continues to be in a spending mood. There were a number of ways to secure the PS5 online or locally. Where should you be careful?

Update from 08/16/2022, 7:30 a.m.: Good morning PS5 hunters. Once again it says: new day, new luck. Which retailers should you lurk at today if you still want to grab a copy of the coveted Sony console?

First of all, your eyes should be on PlayStation Direct today. Yesterday Sony sent out fresh invitations for the in-house factory outlet. So, as a precaution, check your inbox, including the spam folder, if you are there to buy the console.

But it is particularly exciting to see whether PS Direct will hold an open sale for all interested parties today after the closed sale (10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., by invitation only) (from around 12:30 p.m.). That was always the case in the last actions. We’re keeping an eye on the whole thing and will let you know here as soon as possible if it actually happens today.

GameStop is currently also interesting. There have been isolated reports since last week that some stores could start receiving local PS5 supplies again this week. The reports are based on alleged statements by GameStop employees. So if you have a GameStop store near you – try your luck and just ask locally.

You should also keep an eye on OTTO, Müller and (above all tomorrow) Amazon this week. Something else could be done there. In short: there are still enough potential candidates for replenishment at the moment – so paying more attention could definitely pay off.

According to these mails, the next sale will take place on August 16th and traditionally from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – possibly also with an open sale. So if you’ve signed up to buy a console from Sony direct sales, be sure to check your email soon.

Consider: The PS5 replenishment at Alternate usually comes in small quantities, but often in waves – spread over several days. If you are interested but the bundle is sold out right away, just keep an eye on Alternate today and in the next few days. August generally brought quite a bit of fresh console supplies, but there are definitely one or two promising drop candidates for the new week that has just begun. So it’s still worth keeping an eye out if you still want to bag a PlayStation 5. We take a look at the current situation and show you which retailers you should watch out for at the moment. Buy PS5: Good supply prospects for the new August week

Where was the last time you bought the PS5? Last week PS5 hunters didn’t have many, but they did have some really good chances to snag Sony’s coveted console. On the one hand, there was a surprising online drop at the electronics chain Conrad. There, players were able to secure one of over a thousand bundles over the course of almost 12 hours.

On the other hand, you could pre-order the PS5 locally again last Friday and Saturday in numerous branches of MediaMarkt and Saturn (MMS). There were also a few smaller drops on Ebay at MMS. And the PS5 was also available as a bundle from Kaufland, Spielegrotte, or the small retailer Trumox last week.

Which retailers are still hot right now? MediaMarkt and Saturn continue to be interesting with their local campaigns. Although the contingent that can be pre-ordered in many branches has already been used up, you could still be lucky, especially outside of big cities. So just try it and ask directly in the market near you. Maybe it will still work for one or the other of you.

Then, according to some reports, some (but not all) GameStop stores could apparently be getting local PS5 supplies again this week. We are currently talking about a bundle consisting of a PS5 console (disc) including Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, another dual-sense controller and an additional 3-year guarantee – all for a price of €725.
