Obsidian has released a new secret feature in Grounded: Shared Worlds.

With the new Shared Worlds feature, Obsidian allows you to share your created worlds in Grounded with other players and friends.

In addition to the standard worlds that you have been able to use since the launch of the game preview, you can now also create a shared world. Shared worlds are stored in the cloud and you can share them with your friends so they can host the world while you’re not online.

When sharing and creating, however, there are a few things to consider, as the developers say:

  1. You can own up to three shared worlds at any given time.
  2. You can share 50 worlds with others at any time.
  3. All previous standard worlds can be converted into a common world via the “Save/Load” menu.
  4. Any shared world that you own or has been shared can be copied down as a local default world for you to play alone.
  5. Shared Worlds can only be played when hosted as a multiplayer game.
  6. Only one person can host a shared world at a time (other players can join the host).
  7. Any game progress that happens while someone is hosting a shared world will be restored properly, regardless of who hosts the world next.
  8. If you own both a Steam version and an Xbox / Windows Store edition, you can use this system to own a single shared world that you can play through on all platforms.

Note from Obsidian: This feature is still in beta and may cause issues that may result in the online shared saves being reset or lost while the bugs are ironed out.

If you’re testing this feature on a save with a lot of progression, make sure it’s not the only working copy of the world you have on your account. The save sharing service may also go offline at any time during this trial period to troubleshoot or make updates.
