WoW: Patch 9.2.7: Blizzard threatens boosters – new rules for advertising
Patch 9.2.7 does not bring a lot of content to WoW: Shadowlands, but is primarily used to fix a lot of errors that have crept in over the past few weeks. In addition, the developers want to improve the balancing with extensive adjustments. But then there are a few little things. These include, for example, the new “Trade” channel, which will be in our chat window from Wednesday, August 17, 2022.
This new channel is specifically for boosting groups in WoW (buy now ) thought. In order to keep the annoying advertising out of the actual trading channel and the group search tools, boosters now get their own channel, which all other players can view or hide if they wish.
New rules for boosting ads
In the same breath, the rules regarding advertising for boosting will be adjusted by the Blizzard developers, more precisely confirmed. In a blog post, the developers made it very clear that all advertising must be limited to the new trading channel (service).
Any advertising appearing elsewhere in the game, whether it’s group search or other channels, is strictly considered spam and Blizzard will take appropriate action against it. The latter in particular is worth mentioning and can certainly be construed as a threat. In the past, the developers often communicated that something was forbidden, but they were always reluctant to directly mention the consequences.
In any case, we are curious to see whether the boosting guilds (boosting communities are actually forbidden) will stick to it. Despite the ban, there are still countless boosting offers in the official group search tool and there are also regular offers in the trade chat. Do you think this measure will be successful? Or maybe you don’t mind the constant advertisements of the boosting groups?
Here is Blizzard’s official statement:
blizzard
This week the 9.2.7 update introduces the new chat channel: Trade (Services). The Trade (Services) chat channel is used for searching and advertising services like raiding, dungeons, or PvP activities, keeping the original Trade chat channel available for traditional buying and selling of items and profession services.
With the separation of trade services into its own chat channel, a new policy will take place. Any boosting, carrying, or other similar services offered for gold that’s advertised outside of the Trade (Services) chat channel will be considered spam and the proper actions will be taken, so be sure to switch your service advertisements to the new chat channel when it becomes available after this week’s regional maintenance.
