Wreckreation: New racing game announced by ex-burnout and NfS developer

from Sarah Petzold
THQ Nordic has announced various new games as part of a digital showcase, including Wreckreation, a racing game from former Burnout and NfS developers. We summarize what fans can expect with this title – and how much burnout is in Wreckreation.

For arcade racing fans, Burnout is still one of the really big titles in its genre, and the gaming community has been waiting in vain for its worthy successor for years. But that could soon change, as THQ Nordic unveiled a new game as part of a digital showcase event that feels like a nod to the original burnout. wrecking is the title of an open-world racer that, as a huge sandbox, promises its players maximum freedom and potential for destruction.

Maximum freedom in an open sandbox world

Developed by Three Fields Entertainment, a studio consisting of former Burnout and NfS developers, Wreckreation will offer an approximately 400 square kilometer open world, the so-called MixWorld. According to the developers, this game world can be adapted according to your own wishes, for example by placing jumps, loops or movable obstacles and carrying out various stunts, risky driving maneuvers and races or crash tests with cars.

The team behind Wreckreation promises that players will be able to “mix” the world to their liking:

  • There are leaderboards for drifts, flight times, near misses, stunts, crashes and time trials.
  • Cars can be customized at will; Liveries, finishes, wheels, deco, engine sounds, lens colors, tires and gears are all available from the start.
  • There are 16 different radio stations in the game, but Wreckreation also supports Spotify.
  • Players can mix and match Wreckreation’s different modes and choose which events they want to play.
  • Weather, time of day and traffic can be regulated according to your own wishes.
