Thymesia play time: How long you slice your way through the action game

We'll tell you how long the action game will keep you busy.

We’ll tell you how long the action game will keep you busy.

Thymesia is a hard-hitting action game that has a lot less to do with Dark Souls than it first appears. Rather, the title is reminiscent of Sekiro, since the fights are very much based on parrying. In addition, Thymesia also brings its own mechanics. We’ll tell you here how long this challenge will keep you busy – among other things, with more and more deaths – and how the world is structured.

game time

This is how long you need for the game: Thymesia is heavy and that’s why it’s difficult to give a general value for the playing time. Most of you who do all the missions including side quests will probably end up after it 12 to 18 hours reach.

Why your playing time may vary: It can happen that you get stuck in one or more boss fights and pack a lot on the clock – and even experienced Souls players are not necessarily safe from that. If you are really well versed in Sekiro and Co., or are good at parrying, you can also clean up the Kingdom of Hermes in less than 10 hours. Even if you don’t play all bosses and side missions, the playing time will be significantly reduced. You can find out which parts are optional and what is mandatory in the next section.

Number of areas and bosses

This is how Thymesia is built: The game just sends you in three areas, in which you first complete the main mission including the mandatory boss and then optionally side missions. In some of these you will encounter optional but very cool bosses. In addition, a tutorial area, a hub and the final boss fight await you.

There is to do in the areas:

  • Area 1: one main mission, plus four optional side missions
  • Area 2: one main mission, plus three optional side missions
  • Area 3: one main mission, plus two optional side missions

Number of bosses: In total, you can face eight bosses in the plagued kingdom of Hermes, where Thymesia is set, but only half of them are necessary to reach the end. The other four bosses are optional.

Multiple Endings: However, the game has various endings, some of which you can only reach if you have also mastered side bosses. Incidentally, the boss battles can be repeated. If you want to reach different endings without completing the whole game again, you can, for example, simply play the last fight several times and then make different decisions.

What do you think of the scope of the game? Is that enough for you or do you prefer a huge world like in Elden Ring?
