Windows 11: Is version 22H2 coming in September?

from Rhonda Bachman
Microsoft wants to release an optional and free feature update for the Windows 11 operating system once a year. After the release of the OS in October 2021, the first feature update called version 22H2 is planned for this fall. Rumor has it that it could be rolled out as early as September.

After the release of Windows 11 in October 2021, the first major feature update for the operating system is due this year. Microsoft had announced that it would release an optional and free feature update for Windows 11 once a year. It is said to be a collection of updates, some of which have already been published, which users can optionally load onto their systems.

Update 22H2 is said to start in September

It has not yet been announced when Windows 11 users can expect the new update. However, several media and well-known insiders are now saying that version 22H2 should be rolled out in September. Tom Warren from The Verge had already indicated at the beginning of August that the major Windows 11 update should be available from September 20th. Zac Bowden from WindowsCentral also recently spoke of this date.

September 20 is said to be the start of the rollout. Over the next few weeks and months, the version will then be distributed to users via Windows Update. “This date is subject to change, but I’ve heard that Microsoft is targeting that date at this time,” Bowden said. “The launch build of version 22H2 ships as build 22621.”

The latest security update KB5016629 was recently released for Windows 11. However, this brought some problems and could not even be installed for some users. In Microsoft’s feedback hub, the reports that the update takes a long time to download and then cannot even be installed have been piling up.
