NBA 2K23: MyNBA rewrites history

What happened if? NBA 2K23 is rewriting NBA history with all-new features in MyNBA for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

2K announced details and changes to MyNBA coming in NBA 2K23 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players. With the newly introduced eras, you have the opportunity to change the foundation of NBA history and create new legendary moments with NBA legends and classic teams.

“It’s been a great year at MyNBA, and our team is incredibly excited for fans of this game mode to explore the changes we’ve been honing for over a decade,” said Erick Boenisch, VP of NBA Development at 2K and Visual Concepts. “MyNBA Eras takes the deep MyNBA experiences of years past and transports them to the NBA’s most iconic periods so players can explore endless ‘what if’ scenarios in incredibly authentic ways.”

MyNBA provides players with a time machine that allows them to start a new MyNBA save at a specific point in NBA history, called an era.

Playable solo or with friends, these give you the choice to relive or rewrite key moments, including:

• The Magic Vs Bird Era: Starting in 1983, players find themselves in the midst of the simmering rivalry between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird that has defined the league. Fans can rewrite NBA history in the 1980s as they compete for drafts with Michael Jordan, Akeem Olajuwon and other NBA legends drafted during that legendary decade;
• The Jordan Era: The Jordan era begins in 1991 and puts players right in Jordan’s dominant run with the Chicago Bulls. They battle Isiah Thomas’ “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons, John Stockton and Karl Malone, Olajuwon’s Houston Rockets and Patrick Ewing’s New York Knicks for a shot at dominating 1990s basketball;
• The Kobe Era: The Kobe Bryant era takes fans back to 2002, when a new breed of talent emerged in the West, including Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs, Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks, and of course the Black Mamba , Kobe Bryant, personally. Not only will players compete against the legends of the era, but they will also vie for a draft position in the legendary 2003 draft class;
• The Modern Era: The previous MyNBA experience is now called the Modern Era. Long-time fans of this mode can still start with the most up-to-date rosters available and enjoy the traditional MyNBA experience.

Each era has had a variety of updates to capture the atmosphere of the time. Each team has at least one unique court and unique outfits. In addition, there is a special filtering system specifically designed to recreate the viewing experience of how these games were viewed when they were first aired. All expansion teams and franchise relocations have been accounted for in the game.
