The Last of Us Part 1: Boston Docks in PS4 and PS5 comparison

The Last of Us Part 1 (Action-Adventure) von SIE

Much like its infected protagonists, The Last of US is simply unkillable. As early as September 2nd, the PS5 remake of The Last of Us, which was released exclusively for PS3 in 2013, will once again let you slip into the skin of Joel and Ellie. With a new comparison video, the developer Naughty Dog now wants to highlight the visual improvements of the remake to the PS4 remaster released in 2014.

Two weeks ago, the US developer published a comparison video of the two new versions of PlayStation on Twitter – more about that here. Now the show moves away from the horse and weather-beaten roads to the Boston Docks, which the aging Joel traverses on his journey through the cordyceps-infested world.

The excerpt, which is only twelve seconds long, gives a glimpse of the significantly improved and finer character and environment textures, with the water in particular experiencing a significant leap in the direction of realism. But animations and lighting also let the action-adventure and survival-horror game shine in the best light.

Gameplay screenshot fuels speculation

A gameplay screenshot published on Twitter serves as fuel for speculation. This shows Joel in a building that has not yet been confirmed – fans are already puzzling in the comments which place it could be. Did Naughty Dog integrate a new area? Also the idea that it is the hotel was thrown into the room.

Interested parties will have to decide for themselves whether the fight for survival in the much nicer guise for PS5 and later PC is worth its price of a whopping 79.99 euros. As a little help, you can find our review of The Last of Us Remastered for the PS4 here.
