What is…Slime Rancher? – Quick, someone needs to tell PETA!
Slime Rancher delivers exactly what the name promises: on your own farm you breed Dragon Quest-style slimes, whereby you can cross different types with each other and thus create particularly lucrative slimes. Too many crossings, however, can lead to the creation of vicious slimes that explode and cause great damage. However, we don’t spend a large part of the game on our farm, but with exploring the colorful environment, where we fight in the first-person perspective, solve small puzzles and, above all, track down new, even more profitable types of slime.

What is… Broforce? – Explosions, freedom and bromanticism
Broforce is a 2D action platformer that offers two major features: First, we take on the role of characters based on famous action heroes such as Rambro, Brominator or Bro Dredd. All have individual weapons and abilities, which provides plenty of variety, as we slip into a different character after each death. Second, the levels are almost completely destructible. If we shoot wildly and ruthlessly, which is definitely a promising tactic in Broforce, it can happen that there is hardly anything left but bottomless abysses. This applies all the more when we compete in co-op with up to four players.

Going Under – Trailer introduces office crawlers
Going Under is basically a dungeon crawler in which we explore dark vaults, mess with numerous monsters and of course look for loot. The special thing about it: We are not in a dark fantasy world, instead we are exploring the remains of failed start-up companies in today’s world. Our armament consists of office supplies lying around, the enemies are former employees and the bosses are the founders of the company. Incidentally, we play an intern whose only payment is the experience gained. So you can expect many humorous to cynical references to today’s corporate culture.

In the construction game Prison Architect you plan, build and manage your own prison complex, in which you have to keep petty criminals just as safe as dangerous murderers. The graphics may seem minimalistic to cute, but the gameplay is complex and merciless. Even minor inattentions can lead to mass outbreaks or bloody riots. On the other hand, there are many different ways to success: You can ensure peace and quiet with strict security measures, but you can also keep an eye on the happiness of your inmates and thus ensure that at least the more peaceful ones don’t even get any stupid ideas.

Moonlighter mixes a roguelike dungeon crawler with elements of a Stardew Valley-style life simulation. As a shop owner, during the day we sell adventurers the gear they need to venture into the local dungeon. At night, on the other hand, we descend into the dark caves ourselves to collect loot, which we then sell again the next day. With the money earned in this way, we can not only improve and expand our shop, but the entire village. However, our actual goal is not wealth, but exploring the secret of the dungeon, which is supposed to be the gateway to another world.

Limbo is a true indie classic that shouldn’t be missed unless you have a deep dislike for puzzle platformers. We play a little boy who tries to make his way through a nightmarish, atmospheric black and white world. The story is told without words, solely through the impressive images. The gameplay consists mostly of platforming and small puzzles that, while mechanically simple, can still get tricky. Failure is often punished by cruel death animations.

With its dark graphic style, the puzzle platformer Black the Fall is strongly reminiscent of role models such as Limbo. We play a machinist who escapes after decades of hard work and befriends a robot along the way. Redeemer: Enhanced Edition – Preview Video: What’s Improved Here?
Redeemer is an action game with a top-down perspective that, while also letting us use firearms, focuses primarily on bloody hand-to-hand combat. We play a professional killer who worked for a gun company for a long time but would now like to retire. However, since our bosses won’t let that happen, we’re left with no choice but to do what we do best. Rayman Legends comic platformer test video
Rayman Legends lives up to its name, the colorful action platformer can actually be counted among the legendary titles within its genre. This is partly due to the art design, which is still pretty by today’s standards, and the smooth animations. Above all, Rayman Legends impresses with its imaginative and varied gameplay. Of particular note are the music levels in which we’ll have to move to the right rhythm, but the kung-foot mini-game based on soccer is also a lot of fun. By the way, the story is about saving the so-called Glade of Dreams from the attacks of nightmares.

11-11 Memories Retold lets us experience World War I from the perspective of two soldiers, a Canadian photographer and a German engineer, whose stories are intertwined. Apart from that, the game looks very authentic: We can observe both everyday little things and terrible atrocities.
