Rockstar now bans you from talking about GTA 6 on Twitch

Fans have been demanding a new installment in the hugely popular Grand Theft Auto video game series for years. Developer Rockstar has apparently finally had enough of being questioned about GTA 6 and forbids you to mention it on Twitch.

This is what GTA 6 is all about: GTA 5, the latest and most successful offshoot of the series, was released in 2013. Since then, over 169 million copies have been sold. However, while GTA 5 is still going strong, fans have been demanding a new installment for years.

Waiting for GTA 6 has already become a meme of its own. In February 2022, Rockstar finally confirmed that the game was being worked on. Although there have been speculations and rumors for years, more and more leaks and insider reports are now being added.

Rockstar doesn’t seem to want to be questioned about GTA 6

This is how Rockstar defends itself: As a Reddit user noted, Rockstar apparently bans mentioning of GTA 6 in the official RockstarGames chattwitch channel.

in the GTA 6 subreddit shared a screenshot showing the error messages when trying to write the game title in chat. The alternative spelling GTA VI does not make it through the filter either.

Instead, you get a message that the message can’t be posted due to conflicts with the channel’s moderation settings. GTA 5 is apparently allowed.

What the fans say: According to initial reactions, they can understand Rockstar’s move. Apparently, many fans themselves were annoyed by the “GTA 6” spam with everything that somehow comes from Rockstar.

It’s not the first time Rockstar has chosen to go down this route, either. It was already announced in September 2021 that the term “GTA 6” had been muted on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel.

Apparently, while users were able to see their own comments about the game, the comment was hidden from others, according to a Twitter user with a second account.

Back then, too, many reactions were positive: “I mean, I would do that too, if it’s all anyone has to comment on. It was bitched and talked about ad infinitum, people just have to shut up and wait.” (via Twitter)

Other users immediately tried to circumvent the filter with alternative spellings. This is how creations like “GTA IIIIII” or “GTA 7-1” came about.

Rockstar has not yet commented on how long the bans on YouTube and Twitch will last.

How do you see it, can you hardly wait for GTA 6 or can’t you hear it anymore? Do you think Rockstar’s method is okay, or should they be more happy about the interest in their game? Feel free to write us your opinion in the comments.

The fact is that the hype surrounding GTA 6 is huge. But so far, Rockstar has been reluctant to provide official information. So some fans are worried.
