At gamescom 2022 in Cologne, a smoldering conflict between two German Twitch streamers escalated on Friday, August 26th. The Berlin streamer Kilian “Tanzverbot” Heinrich and the casino streamer Kevin “Orangemorange” Bongers delivered a scene that is now causing a sensation on the Internet.

What is the conflict about? The conflict has been brewing for a long time.

Tanzban (title picture) has been criticizing German streamers like Orangemorange for months for broadcasting gambling on Twitch. Already on May 6, the Berlin streamer tweeted (via twitter):

This casino shit makes me so aggressive. Everywhere I see that from people I actually appreciate. From people who don’t need it.

Gambling is a hot topic on Twitch worldwide. There is an allegation that streamers can make deals with casinos and thus offset their own losses. The viewers who want to emulate their streamers go broke.

Who is the other party? The streamers Scurrows and orangemorange are by far the largest German twitch streamers in the “slots” gaming category.

German streamers MontanaBlack and Knossi used to be leaders, but they recently stopped broadcasting gambling on Twitch.

We at MeinMMO learned from lawyer Christian Solmecke: The move away from casino streams was probably due to growing legal and public pressure on both streamers.

Conflict between dance ban and casino streamers has been brewing for months

This happened in the run-up to gamescom: In the course of gamescom, the seething conflict then escalated.

The streamer scurrows tweeted today that he was at gamescom. But streamers who would have offended him now lack the courage to confront him. Tanzban would hide “in the toilet” (via twitter).

Orangemorange also wrote on Twitter that he was looking for a ban on dancing at gamescom, but he was “hiding in the toilet”: According to him, that was an allusion. Because Tanzban had accused him of hiding in the toilet at Twitchcon.

So you can say that both parties sharpened their knives in advance.

By the way, there were also games at the gamescom games fair:

“You sold your honor” vs. “You are a hypocrite”

This is how the conflict started at gamescom: This afternoon the time had come and the groups actually met in the gamescom outdoor area.

There is a 45 second video of what is believed to be the beginning of the meeting. However, it is difficult to reconstruct the exact course of the conflict because the conflict was recorded with cell phone cameras and only shows a fraction of what happened. In addition, there are a large number of people between the camera and the action.

In our estimation, what happened in the video:

  • Ban on dancing (white t-shirt) accused the group around Orangemorange and Scurrow of their casino streams. He roared that they had sold their honor and soul. There were numerous coarse swear words. This is stuff that’s usually banned on Twitch – but the incident wasn’t broadcast
  • Scurrows (black sweater) defended himself, accusing Tanzban of being “a hypocrite”.
  • Tanzverbot apparently wanted to start a violent conflict by demanding Scurrows “But come here”; but gamescom visitors had already gathered between the two conflicting parties, who shielded both parties from each other and repeatedly held them back and tried to de-escalate the situation.
  • In particular, the girlfriend of Tanzban Lola (straight, blond hair), also a streamer, can be heard in the scene talking to Tanzban: “Stop it, stop it”. But he audibly continued to get into the situation.

Oranemorange attack video goes viral

How did that escalate? In a second video, which then went viral on Twitter, you can see the tangible part of the action:

  • Ban on Dance faces a man in a yellow shirt and they both appear to be quietly conversing. Lola stands by and looks upset.
  • Suddenly, the streamer Orangemorange sneaks up, suddenly throws a cup of liquid, almost falls and apparently hits another uninvolved woman, who then grabs her head
  • As Tanzban and Lola yell out of frame on the right, Scurrows builds up and yells “What do you want?”

This is the 3rd video of the action: A third video shows the seconds after this attack:

  • Scurrows swore in the general direction of Ban on Dance, who was held back by several people and his girlfriend.
  • Tanzban has apparently lost control of himself in the situation, is red-faced and pushes his girlfriend over
  • According to his own statements, Tanzban weighs about 117 kilograms and people clearly have trouble controlling him

Accidentally “hit woman in conflict area”

What do those involved say? Orangemorange says: Tanzban spat on him and “someone” hit/shoved him. He wanted to throw both cups on no dancing. He was “just defending himself”. Red Bull was in the cup (via twitter).

There is no apology for his behavior or anything like that. Orangemorange only seems to matter that he threw a plastic cup of Red Bull, not a glass bottle.

It is also very important for Scurrows to emphasize that no plastic bottle was thrown. He writes: The cup hit “a woman who was in the conflict area”: He also accuses Tanzban of making derogatory comments and spitting.

According to Scruwwos, ban on dancing “made a fat man”, insulted and then “his troupe started a fight.” He “boxed some streamer”.

There is still no statement about a ban on dancing (Status: August 26, 10:00 p.m.).

How do others see it? In public, one seems to see above all the litter from Orangemorange and calls on Twitch to ban the casino streamer (via twitter).

However, the discussion also shows two camps that argue about who initiated the violence. For example, Orangemorange is accused of “having no aim” – the ban on dancing is attested to be a serious problem of aggression.

Several users are demanding a Twitch ban from Orangemorange and Scurrows. Many also distance themselves from all parties involved in the dispute.

In any case, it doesn’t seem to have been a highlight of the German Twitch scene.

Six conflict-related topics are trending on German Twitter

Trending on Twitter on Friday night are #gamescom, ban on dancing, tanzi, orange, scurrows and mugs.

In 2022, after many years of virtual trade fairs, there was again a gamescom on site. As early as 2018 there was an incident that was of a similar level to the dispute between the German influencers:
