Resident Evil: Netflix series canceled after disappointing first season

Netflix has canceled the Resident Evil live-action series after the first season.

The series debuted in July 2022 with an eight-episode season, but was not well-received by audiences.

Started strong, dropped heavily

As deadline reported, the series has an approval rating of just 27 percent on Rotten Tomatoes among viewers. For the critics it is 55 percent.

With 72.7 million hours watched, the series did not get off to a bad start. In the first week, only Stranger Things was watched more often.

Behind the Resident Evil series was Supernatural’s executive producer Andrew Dabb, who served as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Lance Reddick starred as Albert Wesker.
