PS5: New models make the console lighter again

Two new models of Sony’s PlayStation 5 have surfaced in Australia.

These are the models CFI-1202B (digital) and CFI-1202A (with disc drive).

What’s different about the new PS5 models?

Similar to the models released in 2021, this will primarily make the console lighter.

As Press Start Australia reported that the Digital Edition has become 200 grams lighter and now weighs 3.4 kilograms. The PS5 with disc drive has lost 300 grams and now weighs 3.9 kilograms.

More on the subject:

With both models, there have already been noticeable weight savings compared to the launch versions. An overview:

model weight
launch model Disc: 4.5kg / Digital: 3.9kg
2021 revision Disc: 4.2kg / Digital: 3.6kg
2022 revision Disc: 3.9kg / Digital: 3.4kg

As you can see, thanks to the new model, the PS5 with disc drive now weighs as much as the Digital Edition at launch.

It is not known when the new models will be available in this country.

Sony recently announced a price increase for the PlayStation 5. In Europe, the company has increased the price of both models by 50 euros each.
