Anno 1800: These features are in the realm of the air – a lot of new information about the DLC
Ubisoft Mainz is preparing the Release of Empire of the Air before: The second DLC from Anno 1800 Season 4 will be available from September 20th ready for download. In a recent blog entry, the creators give an overview of the features that await you in the upcoming expansion. The highlights include the airships, which are divided into fast airships and cargo airships. For this you need a hangar, which you first build on your island. Construction is divided into four phases, each step requiring its own materials and a lot of manpower.
Coming with the DLC as well new production chains in the construction game. To the essential Elements include aluminum and helium. You need aluminum, among other things, for the airships and for houses that are related to the new flight vehicles. You need coal and bauxite to produce the important aluminum. Helium, which like bauxite you only find in the New World, you also need for the airships. However, the production is somewhat more complex than that of aluminum. For example, the helium drilling rigs first need incoming goods before they can extract gas.
New items in Realm of the Air
In order to increase the production of the mines, you can use this in Reich der Lufte, for example Item “Crazy Victoria, Dynamite Enthusiast” return. This means that your mines use dynamite as input goods, which gives you twelve additional goods every two cycles. However, it’s not entirely risk-free. If you’re unlucky, it’ll happen dangerous explosions. Also available in the new DLC is the item “Arctic Gas Expert”, which you can either research or buy from a merchant. It allows you to use lubricants (from the New World) in your arctic gold mines for additional gas extraction.
As soon as you have your first airship in the skies of Anno 1800 (buy now €20.50 /€53.99 ) built, you build an airport, which gives you access to item terminals, the airmail warehouse, and the commuter station. The item terminal is particularly practical, from where you can quickly move individual items back and forth between different islands and regions. If you have problems getting in, you can use the new one Character Paloma Valente with advice and action to the side.

Another special feature of The postal system is the realm of the skies. The “quality of life needs” of your residents flushes additional income into your coffers and ensures more residents per house. A distinction is made between local, regional and national post. “With Empire of the Air we’re introducing Quality of Life Needs, additional goods and resources that can be made available to your dwellers. They work like normal necessities but are completely optional. When met, Quality of Life Needs grant bonuses and additional Dwellers “In addition, they only have positive effects and do not increase the consumption of your dwellers’ basic needs. Once unlocked, quality of life needs are disabled by default: you must therefore activate them manually in the quality of life needs interface in the residence menu,” the developers share With. You can read how the production chains at Swiss Post work in the Blog entry on the Anno website.
Drop goods
With the new airships you can Drop goods on your islands. For this you need a discard factory where you select your preferred goods from the patent list. Then you load the goods onto your airship. You choose leaflets, aid packages, bombs, sea mines and extinguishing water from the drop goods. For example, if you drop leaflets on your opponent’s islands, you can cause a lot of unrest there – and negatively affect production. Note, however, that the AI also gains access to the airship technology – and can attack your islands accordingly.
New ornaments and update 15
Schönbauer get turn with Reich der Lufte eight new ornaments, including an airport cafe, cafe tables and an airport clock. The kingdom of the skies is accompanied by update 15, which is available as a free download for Anno 1800 on the release day. Ubisoft Mainz should submit the specific patch notes for the launch on September 20th. What is already certain, however, is that the patch paves the way for the kingdom of the air and resizes the passage airships so that they fit better with the new airships. It also includes quality of life needs and a few items.
“Besides these changes, there will also be some free military upgrades: for example, new weapons will be available for your ports, the armor-piercing gun and the flaming turret. In the frame we have revised the damage types, which means that depending on what you built weapons will also give different types of damage – for example, wooden ships will take more damage from fire attacks from the Flame Tower,” the developers write.
