High on Life: AAA games were partially postponed

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Games like God of War: Ragnarok and Call of Duty were just two of the reasons High on Life was postponed.

Shortly after Gamescom, the postponement of the shooter High on Life was announced.

Speaking of the new December 13 date, High on Life chief creative officer and art director Mikey Spano said games like God of War: Ragnarok and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II are reasons behind it. Because October is already filled with too many games.

“October is crowded – it’s really crowded. For us, the benefit is in the conversation. So if we miss the conversation because everyone is talking about God of War or Call of Duty, that’s a missed opportunity for us.”

But there were other reasons too. So they wanted to polish certain areas of the game even further, so that the same high quality prevails in the game.

“When we got the game to a certain point, we realized that we polished the first act and it was going to be great, and we could really have polished the third act and it was great. And the middle would have been great too, but not quite as good as Act One and Act Three.”

“And when we saw how good the first act was, we were like, ‘Oh shit, wouldn’t it be great if we could put everything out in this quality?’ [Die Verzögerung] gave us a little bit more that we needed. And it held us back from some of the bigger titles.”
