Amid the hype surrounding the ban on dancing, a new controversy is brewing around streamer Theo “Scurrows” Bottländer, who sometimes streams his gambling daily on Twitch. Scurrows is said to be breaking some laws because he doesn’t seem to be where his gambling streams are allowed.

Scurrows: Illegal Casino Streams in Malta – or Maybe Madeira?
What happened? Streamer Scurrows is currently writing one negative headline after another. The Gamescom frenzy of No Dance, OrangeMorange and Scurrows is still bothering fans and now new allegations are coming from AlphaKevin on YouTube. Apparently, Scurrows and fellow OrangeMorange twitch gambling isn’t entirely allowed. Scurrows strict AlphaKevin on Twitch and a new problematic situation arises for the casino streamer.
What is the problem? Although the legal situation surrounding gambling and casino streams is debatable and opaque, Scurrows and OrangeMorange seem at least against the Stake Terms of Service to violate – there the streamers gamble for huge sums. This online casino bans its services in Portugal. Scurrows and OrangeMorange’s social media accounts indicate that they live in Malta – however, there is some evidence that this is not the case.
Malta or Madeira? It has been known for a long time that Scurrows lives on Madeira, where he is still shown in his Instagram story in early August in front of the mountainous landscape of the Portuguese island. But this fact clashes with the fact that Scurrows has been showing Stake-sponsored streams in which he gambles for real money since May 1st. Thus, the streamer seems to be violating his sponsor’s terms of service and not staying in Malta as stipulated. In the tweet linked above, @CasinoHunter22 claims to have found proof that Scurrows still lives in Madeira.

Opponents of Casino Streaming: Some Twitch streamers actively oppose streaming casino content to protect impressionable viewers. Ban on dancing and AlphaKevin also like to comment harshly on the controversial casino streams. Scurrows railed against the casino’s criticism of the ban on dancing, thereby making himself look ridiculous to other opponents of the topic. In a video about the escalation at Gamescom, AlphaKevin also takes a closer look at the fact of Scurrows’ residency.
Scurrows appears to be using a VPN service that allows him to access Stake and stream gambling. However, the terms and conditions explicitly prohibit using such a way or a similar way to access the online casino. AlphaKevin also emphasizes that he thinks it’s entirely possible that Scurrows and OrangeMorange now live in Malta – we’ve included AlphaKevin’s video below with the appropriate timestamp.
Does Scurrows get in trouble? Whether Scurrows violates applicable law is difficult to say. Streaming gambling on Twitch is only prohibited if it actively links to casino sites or uses “fake” money provided by the sponsor. So Scurrows will not be able to count on a twitch ban. However, the legislation of each country around gambling and advertising is a science in itself. It is not yet clear whether there are any legal consequences for Scurrows. It seems that Scurrows is not in the country he claims to be in. However, it is also difficult to say here whether the streamer is in cahoots with his sponsor or whether he is fooling one of his main sources of income.
