Firewall Ultra is announced for PlayStation VR2

PlayStation VR2 game announced GamersRD Firewall Ultra

Sony’s new peripheral called Sony’s PlayStation VR2 is due out early next year, and ahead of that release, we’ve learned this week about another new VR game planned for the platform.

First Contact Entertainment together with Sony revealed Firewall Ultra, the next chapter in the Firewall series first established in the field of virtual reality with the PlayStation VR game Firewall Zero Hour. Just like we don’t have a release date yet for PS VR2, Firewall Ultra doesn’t have a release date set either.

The new Firewall Ultra is a direct sequel to the first game set a few years after the events of Firewall Zero Hour, said First Contact Entertainment Community Manager Frank Marm. in a PlayStation blog post that accompanies the trailer shown below. Like the previous game, Firewall Ultra will be a multiplayer first-person shooter that Marm says will feature several improvements over the previous installment. This will have dedicated servers, for example, and will take better advantage of PS VR2 enhancements that weren’t possible with base PS VR.

“Since PS VR2 offers a much higher level of visual fidelity with 4K HDR, we have completely redesigned all character models,” said Marm about this new game. “The maps have also been completely overhauled, with new areas and new textures. There will also be new locations and contractors, but it wouldn’t be a Firewall game without the weaponry and gear, which also feature a much deeper level of customization. .”

The addition of dedicated servers is the result of player feedback requesting it with other community input also representing new features. Round-based gameplay will be in place, for example, along with a “whole new PvE experience” and more post-launch content.
