Electronic Arts: Newly founded studio develops Battlefield campaign

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

The Ridgeline Games studio, newly created by EA, is to take care of the development of a narrative campaign for Battlefield in the future.

Ridgeline Games is the newest member of Electronic Arts’ 20+ development team. The Seattle-based studio, led by Halo co-creator Marcus Lehto, brings together a team of industry veterans who will focus on developing a new narrative campaign set in the Battlefield universe.

“It is a tremendous honor to have the opportunity to work with DICE and Ripple Effect and take responsibility for expanding the narrative, storytelling and character development capabilities of the Battlefield series,” said Lehto, game director and leader of Ridgeline Games.

“We continue to invest in the future of the franchise by bringing in new talent and perspective,” said Vince Zampella, Respawn founder and head of the Battlefield franchise. “With Marcus and his team at Ridgeline Games joining the already existing world-class global team, Battlefield is in the best position to succeed.”

Electronic Arts subsequently clarified that the campaign is being developed for a new Battlefield game and not as an afterthought for Battlefield 2042.
