Assassin's Creed: Mirage, RED, HEXE, Infinity - that's behind it

Ubisoft has big plans for Assassin’s Creed, which will focus on the so-called Infinity platform. Chief developer Marc-Alexis Coté spoke in an interview with Eurogamer about the details of Infinity and upcoming Assassin’s Creeds like HEXE and RED.

Just in time for the 15th anniversary of Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft has lifted the veil as part of Ubisoft Connect on September 10, 2022 on several new projects that are currently in the works and are intended to expand the series universe in various ways. At the heart of Assassin’s Creed’s future plans is Infinity, an overarching hub that will bring together the diverse Assassin’s Creed gaming experiences under one roof.

Present story is outsourced to Infinity

The developers at Ubisoft have explained in several official blog posts exactly what fans of the franchise can expect in the future. In an interview with Eurogamer, chief developer Marc-Alexis Coté also revealed various details about Infinity and the two upcoming major Assassin’s Creed titles codenamed RED and HEXE.

According to Coté, Assassin’s Creed Infinity as an overarching platform will give players access to the series’ single-player games such as RED, HEXE and Mirage. At the same time, Infinity also serves as the basis for the Assassin’s Creed standalone multiplayer experience that Ubisoft has planned for the future. Last but not least, Infinity is set to be the home of contemporary Assassin’s Creed storytelling, so players who aren’t interested in the associated narrative don’t have to be forced to play it.

Netflix series and mobile game in the works

Meanwhile, the new Assassin’s Creed projects currently in development under the working titles RED and HEXE focus on the historical gaming experience. Assassin’s Creed RED comes from Ubisoft Quebec (Odyssey, Syndicate) and takes us to feudal Japan. In contrast, in Assassin’s Creed HEXE (Ubisoft Montreal) we are allowed to visit a Europe of the 16th century.

Assassin’s Creed fans will also enjoy the mobile game Assassin’s Creed JADE, set in ancient China. Finally, Ubisoft is working on a series in the Assassin’s Creed universe, which is to be created in cooperation with Netflix. So the coming years have a number of potential blockbusters in store for the AC community.
