MultiVersus: Velma no longer calls the police

MultiVersus could probably inspire more than ten million players (1)

The platform fighter MultiVersus received a new patch just a few days ago. This brought, among other things, a brand new character and changes to the balancing, so a pretty normal update for a fighting game. Interestingly, however, one was also changed certain ability of Velma, which fans have apparently been bothered by before.

Police no longer welcome in MultiVersus

Velma’s passive ability allows her to gather evidence throughout a match after hitting an enemy player with an attack. Once she has collected enough of this evidence, Velma can call the police, who will then arrest one of her adversaries.

With the new patch, Velma no longer contacts the police, instead relying on the Mystery Inc. Gang in their Mystery Machine to catch the “culprits”. An exact reason for this change was not provided by the developers, but in the community some players have already complained about this ability. Not only was this criticized because it was compared to swatting, which is unfortunately quite common at the moment, some players also found it quite uncomfortablethe police on the figure – and real person – to rush LeBron James.

It’s entirely possible that the developers wanted to distance themselves as much as possible from these themes, as the ability itself otherwise remains unchanged, and while Mystery Machine is a bit larger, the overall ability is intended to be on par with Game Director Tony Huynh reveals on Twitter.
