%%title%% Sony became Activision’s number one customer in 2020
In recent days, controversy has broken out between Sony and Microsoft after revealing how long the Call of Duty series will be a part of the PlayStation community. This after the purchase of ActivisionBlizzard by Bill Gates’ company. While Phil Spencer had confirmed that the agreements established before the purchase would be respected, Jim Ryan revealed that it would only be three years from the purchase.
However, in 2020, the year of the pandemic, Sony became Activision Blizzard’s biggest customer, a tweet from analyst Daniel Ahmad reveals. Said sales of PlayStation represented a 17% net of the company. Which means that Activision would stop releasing games on the platform that gives it the most benefits.
Fun Fact:
Sony was Activision Blizzard’s largest customer in 2020 accounting for 17% of it sales or ~$1.37 billion.
Microsoft was Activision Blizzard’s 4th largest customer in 2020, behind Apple and Google, accounting for 11% of its sales or ~$890m pic.twitter.com/9dlm6vhDhA

In addition to revealing that Sony was the company that provided the most revenue to Activision Blizzard in 2020 (1.37 billion dollars), with Apple (15%) and Google (14%) in second and third place, respectively. However, Microsoft is in fourth position.
In other words, both Sony and Microsoft are Activision Blizzard’s biggest customers. If we add, it would be 42% of the annual net income. Which implies that it is more profitable for the company to have both of them as partners.
