After revealing the release date in the recent Direct, Nintendo and Platinum Games have released an extensive gameplay trailer for Bayonetta 3. As promised, it shows off the finer points of combat, starting with attacks, firearms, and Warlock Time.

One of the new mechanics in the sequel is the Demon Slave, which has Bayonetta summoning infernal demons to take on larger enemies. While these can deal some significant damage, Bayonetta is exposed during the summon, so switching between normal and summon combat is essential. Also, you will have to deal damage to fill her summon meter.

Inferno Demons have other uses, such as setting up Bayonetta’s Torment Attacks or participating in demon combos with flick attacks. Assault Slave can also be used to counter an attack with a summon, or you can use his Hell Demon during Witch Time for heavy damage. Finally, Demon Masquerade allows Bayonetta to fuse with a demon for more powerful forms, with each weapon having abilities unique to her.

We also see Viola, the witch-in-training, in action. Unlock Bayonetta, Viola can activate Witch Time by blocking at the right time. Her Hell Demon, Cheshire, is unique in that Viola can fight bare-handed while she is active (although Witch Time is not available). Finally, the difficulty options are confirmed with Casual, Normal, and Expert available at any time. You can also equip accessories for auto combos on standard difficulty or higher.

Bayonetta 3 It will be out on October 28 for Nintendo Switch. You can see the gameplay below.
