Geforce RTX 4090: Next model teased by Galax/KFA2

Supposed Galax RTX 4090 SG

from Maximilian Hohm
The graphics card manufacturer Galax, known in this country as KFA2, has teased the next Geforce RTX 4090. The RTX 4090 SG should offer a total of up to four fans and a newly developed heat sink and could be presented as early as next week. Read more about this below.

Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 4090 is said to combine more than 75 billion transistors in the 5 nanometer process in its AD102 GPU and thus achieve new peak performance in games. At least Nvidia’s high-end models are expected to be launched this year, while the cheaper offshoots are not expected until next year. So far, information has been leaked about the first models, all of which rely on large air coolers to master the waste heat. Zotac, Gigabyte and also the OEM Lenovo all rely on triple fan solutions with at least 3.5 slot coolers.

The now teased model comes from Galax/KFA2 and is said to be an offshoot of the Serious Gaming (SG) series. Unlike Gigabyte or Zotac, however, Galax did not have a Geforce RTX 3090 Ti model with a cooler that could be adapted for the Geforce RTX 4090, so a new development is pending. To date, the manufacturer’s most powerful models with the SG cooler, which provides an optional fourth fan on the backplate, are the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti and 3090, both of which consume well under 400 watts.

This three-slot design seems unsuitable for a Geforce RTX 4090. According to previous information from Videocardz, the upcoming RTX 4090 SG should be equipped with a quad-slot cooler that can dissipate the waste heat and, as before, also has three fans previously unknown size and optionally offers the fourth fan on the back.

Like all other RTX 4090, KFA2’s model is said to have a single 12VHPWR connector for power supply. Like all other pictures that already exist of the Geforce RTX 4090, Galax’s do not show an NV-Link port, so SLI seems to be dead for good. A comprehensive announcement of the KFA2 RTX 4090 SG with further detailed information is expected in the next week.
