GTA 6: Rockstar developers on the release: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

GTA 6: Ironically, IMDB wants to know the release year

from Sarah Petzold
The host of a charity event asked a Rockstar North developer directly and bluntly about the release date of GTA 6. The developer was quite relaxed about the question and reacted as expected.

When is the next GTA coming out? Video game fans and the press have been asking this question for a long time, but the developers at Rockstar have consistently remained silent. We know that GTA 6 is in development, but there are no more details so far. And it’s supposed to stay that way for a while, at least as far as Rockstar itself is concerned. This is evidenced by a curious scene at a charity event where a reporter spoke directly to a Rockstar North developer about GTA 6.

Asking about the release of GTA 6 becomes a running gag

A video posted to reddit by user FaZeSasuki shows a snippet of a live stream from charity GamesAid’s Karting Day. This event sees game developers race in go-karts at Whilton Mill racetrack in the UK to raise funds for charity. Apparently, a team from Rockstar North was also there.

When the moderator of the live stream addresses one of the developers and finds out which studio he comes from, he asks directly smugly: “Rockstar North? Excellent! Ok, when will the next GTA game be released?” The developer laughs and replies, “I have no idea what you’re talking about, dude, no idea.” The moderator only comments with the words that fans have been waiting for a new part for ten years before changing the subject.

The reaction of both interlocutors clearly shows that direct questions about GTA 6 and a possible release date have already become a kind of running gag. Let’s hope that the game itself doesn’t become such a running gag in the long run and that Rockstar will soon finally come out with real new information about what is probably the most anticipated game of the past ten years. Who knows, maybe it will be in October?
