Xbox Series X Dashboard: Some games on disc and digital now playable offline

Activision Blizzard: Phil Spencer pleased with acquisition progress

Recently, some games for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One can also be played offline without connecting to Xbox LIVE.

With the recent September update for the Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One consoles dashboard, Microsoft has apparently made changes to the use of games offline.

As Hikikomori Media explains in a video, some Xbox games can now be played offline.

You can play offline games for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One that you either own on disc or have bought digitally.

However, games from Xbox Game Pass, Xbox 360 and the original Xbox cannot be played offline and require a connection to Xbox LIVE.

It should also be noted nowadays that some games do not always appear completely on disc or are only playable with a day one patch.

So if you install a game offline from the disc on your console, you may get a game with errors that spoil the fun of the game.

In any case, it’s a step in the right direction that the Xbox team has taken in case you don’t want to be constantly online with your console or there is an internet or Xbox LIVE service outage.
