Assassin's Creed Red is reportedly bringing Japanese consultants to the table

Ubisoft Japan is reportedly working with local consultants to ensure Assassin’s Creed Red preserves the “cultural authenticity and sensitivity” of Japan.

Helping hand for cultural issues

The report on this comes from Axios (thanks, games radar), citing two sources both involved in or familiar with the development of the title. According to these, Ubisoft Japan is working with Japanese consultants to implement Assassin’s Creed Red.

However, it is unclear how and to what extent the consultants influence the developers and the game. Ubisoft certainly has enough time to authentically present the cultural asset, because the game is still in development for a year or two.

A similar approach, with a dedicated cultural advisor, is something we saw in Ghost of Tsushima and is becoming the norm in video game development.

Such external specialists are certainly a good investment for Assassin’s Creed Red, which is set in Japan and is intended to fulfill a “powerful shinobi fantasy”.
