As is well known, Activision is hosting a beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Matching the beta start on the PC, AMD is releasing a new adrenaline driver that supports the test phase of the shooter. Adrenalin 22.9.1 is now available for download.

From September 16th to 26th, Activision and the developers at Infinity Ward are hosting a staged open beta for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. While in the first few days Playstation players were given preference for access to the shooter, players on the PC and Xbox platforms will soon be able to do so. To coincide with the start of the beta on PC, AMD is releasing a new Adrenaline driver that supports the latest CoD beta.

A new Radeon driver for the beta start

The 2022 version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released next month. But before that, a big beta will be held, which at different times will be open to players of all platforms. The Playstation players, who were already able to dive into the upcoming shooter from September 16th to 20th, were allowed to strike first. Pre-orderers who receive early access to the title on all platforms also have an advantage. The schedule for the beta is as follows:

  • September 16-17: Early Access for Playstation players
  • September 18-20: Open Beta for all Playstation players
  • September 22-23: Early Access for Xbox and PC players (Battlenet, Steam)
  • September 24-26: Open Beta for players on all platforms

After the Playstation players, PC and Xbox friends can now join their first battles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from September 22nd. From 7 p.m. the servers will be open for pre-orders on these platforms. Just in time for the start of the PC beta, AMD has released a new version of the Radeon driver Adrenalin 22.9.1. This will support the CoD beta and fixes a bug with intermittent black screens when using extended screens.

However, AMD also lists some known issues that may occur with the new driver. For example, Radeon Super Resolution may not fire after changing the resolution or HDR settings in games like Nioh 2. Also, GPU utilization can get stuck at 100% in Radeon performance metrics on some AMD graphics cards, such as the Radeon 570, after exiting games. Additionally, when switching between video and game windows on cards like the Radeon RX 6700 XT, the display may be momentarily impacted.
