25 meters range is not enough: Healing caller from WoW: Dragonflight is buffed
In the WoW beta: Dragonflight, the designers of the new Rufer class realized that the keeper specialization, with which the Dracthyr heal, acts too rigidly with its previous medium range. For this reason, the basic range of healing spells will be increased from 25 to 30 meters for the time being.
The callers from the Dracthyr people are the new hero class that will be coming to the live servers of the online role-playing game later this year with WoW: Dragonflight. The design goal of the class, especially for the keeper, the healing caller, is that he acts in the medium range in order to close a previously unfilled gap between melee and ranged fighters.
The Empower feature, which allows you to empower powerful spells, requires players, among other things, to keep their heroes standing – and that feels a little too stiff for a character as agile as the Caller, says WoW Designer Sunders on the Dragonflight Beta Forums. And that’s why the base range of the caller’s healing spells is increased from 25 to 30 meters. As an aside, there are a few other adjustments that can now be tried out in the coming days. Below you can read Sunders’ contribution translated by us.
Feedback to the caller
“In the next beta build, we’ll be making some updates to address concerns about the healing range of the Preservation Caller. We’ve read the feedback, observed playtesting, and agree that the 25 meter range combined with the frequent requests of Empowerment Spells is a little too high.To solve this problem we are going to do the following:
- All of the Preservation Caller’s healing and utility spells now have a base range of 30 yards.
- The cooldowns of Dream Breath and Spirit Bloom are slightly increased, with the Conservation specialization’s overall healing potency being increased to compensate.
- This should mean that you’ll have to stand still and cast empowered spells less often, but if you do, they will be more effective and your healing in the moments in between will also have more impact.
- Hover now has a shorter lock time, allowing you to cast faster after using Hover.
We are interested in developing a mid-range mobile healer. We want to make sure tools like Hover, Verdant Embrace, Echo, and Rescue are flexible and powerful enough to compensate for reduced range.
Please keep testing and giving us feedback so we know if these tools are working well alongside the changes above. We’ll continue to listen to your feedback and ensure the Caller is a powerful and exciting new class!” Whether the increased range will help the Dracthyr play more smoothly remains to be seen.
