What is NVIDIA Studio?

NVIDIA Studio is both a certification and a platform for content creators, video specialists, and imaging professionals. The platform consists of several components, which we will explain to you in more detail in the article. The first thing to do, however, is the certification.

What is the NVIDIA Studio Certificate?

The NVIDIA Studio certification makes it easier for you to find suitable laptops and PCs for creative work. Certain minimum requirements must be met for the certificate, which we will show you using the example of the Asus VivoBook Pro 14X explain.

NVIDIA Studio requires at least one GeForce GTX 1650, GeForce RTX 2060, Titan RTX, Quadro RTX 3000 or higher graphics card installed in a PC or laptop. The VivoBook Pro 14X is equipped with a GeForce RTX 3050 and thus fulfills this requirement.

Additional NVIDIA requirements: Devices must have at least a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 H processor, 16 GB of memory, and an SSD with 512 GB of storage.

The VivoBook Pro 14X has a strong Intel Core i7-11370H with a clock frequency of up to 4.80 gigahertz, 16 GB DDR4 RAM and a 1 terabyte SSD. That’s more than enough performance to earn the NVIDIA Studio certification.

What are the benefits of NVIDIA Studio?

NVIDIA Studio certified devices are ideal for creative workers. Since your apps can draw on the immense performance of GeForce graphics cards, various processes are accelerated.

Tests by NVIDIA have shown that you edit photos in Adobe Lightroom faster with a certified laptop equipped with an RTX 3050 or RTX 3080 than with a system that works with an i9 processor without a graphics card. A GeForce RTX 3050, for example, is in the Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio installed.

You also benefit from the graphics card power in the 3D rendering program Autodesk Arnold: A laptop with a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti renders your 3D models up to seven times faster than a device that works without graphics card support. In DaVinci Resolve, the processing time and color correction does not increase with an RTX 3070 compared to a MacBook Pro 16, but with an RTX 3080 Ti the time is reduced by about 20 minutes. A whopping performance gain.

How does NVIDIA Studio manage to enable such performance gains? This is due to the optimization of the programs by the NVIDIA Studio driver.

A cornerstone: The NVIDIA Studio driver

Along with graphics cards like the GeForce RTX 3050, the NVIDIA Studio driver is another cornerstone of NVIDIA Studio. It improves your experience while working with your creative apps. At the same time, it increases the stability of your system – files and creative works are safe.

So that the developers of Photoshop, Blender and other creative apps can fundamentally optimize their programs for NVIDIA Studio, they receive special SDKs, i.e. software development kits. These collections of programs allow developers to incorporate the latest NVIDIA features and hardware into their apps. As an end user, you can use the full range of NVIDIA Studio features without having to make any adjustments yourself.

Creative work and gaming on one device – thanks to the NVIDIA driver

Passionate gamers may ask themselves, “Can I play with the Studio driver?” Yes, your games will run smoothly with the Studio driver. Why should you still install the Game Ready driver?

The answer can be found by comparing the two drivers. The Studio driver is optimized to ensure increased stability and optimize creative work. The Game Ready driver, on the other hand, ensures optimal support for current games. New versions of the Game Ready driver are released faster than Studio driver updates to keep graphics cards up-to-date with the latest games.

The update intervals for the Studio driver are longer because NVIDIA extensively tests the driver to ensure it works perfectly with all apps and programs. As a result, your system always remains stable, the studio driver guarantees optimal performance with high security of your data.

GeForce Experience: The platform for your drivers

You can download the current versions of the two drivers with NVIDIA’s GeForce Experience app – very easily via the three-point menu at the top right of the application. In addition, you can easily switch back and forth between the drivers via GeForce Experience, depending on whether you want to gamble or work creatively.

To do this, go to the menu item and select the respective driver. Then download it by clicking on “Download” and install it.

Real-time ray tracing and AI: Even more features from NVIDIA Studio

In addition to the Studio and Game Ready drivers, NVIDIA Studio offers other features that you can use to let your creativity run wild.

Advanced AI functions of the RTX GPUs accelerate your applications, which means that scenes in video editing programs run more smoothly – even during editing. The calculations are carried out by the processor cores of the graphics cards, the tensor cores, which are designed to accelerate AI operations.

The RTX graphics cards also master real-time ray tracing. This technology simulates light in a particularly realistic way, so that it reflects off surfaces such as puddles and window panes. Special raytracing cores in the GPU calculate this feature – you can display your 3D models directly with raytracing and render them faster. The RTX 3050, for example, is capable of ray tracing Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio is installed.

The graphics cards also accelerate image and video editing. That’s because of improved video encoders that speed up movie rendering and enable high-quality live streams. In addition, RTX graphics cards have so-called CUDA cores – up to 4,608 pieces. You can switch on these cores and then benefit from accelerated image processing effects such as sharpness settings and color correction.

The apps for NVIDIA Studio

Various apps extend the functionality of NVIDIA Studio.

NVIDIA Broadcast

Do you like to stream your games or do you use video conferences a lot? NVIDIA Broadcast offers you practical features such as stylish virtual backgrounds and noise reduction.

NVIDIA Omniverse

With the help of NVIDIA Omniverse, you network your creative programs via the Universal Scene Description framework, USD for short. This framework ensures that you can work on a project with several participants such as designers and developers at the same time.

NVIDIA Canvas

Create detailed works of art with almost no effort with NVIDIA Canvas. The app turns rough brushstrokes and rough drawings into chic paintings through AI optimization. All you need is a GeForce RTX graphics card like the RTX 3050, which is available in the Asus VivoBook Pro 16X does its job. Once a painting has been created, you export it to Photoshop and edit it in detail.
