Trainers in Pokémon GO supposedly know a trick to make it easier to catch the legendary Galar birds

In Pokémon GO you can meet the legendary Galar birds for a few weeks. Now a trainer shows a trick that will make it much easier for you to catch them. We at MeinMMO took a look at how it should work and what the community says about the trick.

What monsters are they about? The so-called adventure smoke has been available in Pokémon GO since July. This is a special smoke that can be ignited once a day for 15 minutes and brings you different monsters when you move.

In addition to the normal spawns, you can also encounter further developments and rare monsters. This also includes the legendary Galar birds Arktos, Zapdos and Lavados, which are really difficult to catch. But that should be over now, because a trainer shows on reddit which trick he can use to catch the Pokémon more easily.

Galar Birds are slippery Pokémon

Why are the Galar birds so difficult to catch? Unlike the other spawns from the daily smoke, the Galar Birds are particularly difficult to catch. This is primarily due to the fact that they are comparatively rare to find.

So it takes a good deal of luck to even come across such a specimen. But once you have it in front of you, you are by no means certain of the legendary Pokémon. The Galar birds have an extremely high flight rate.

Most trainers report that it’s gone after the first throw, even though they hit it with a fabulous throw using a gold raspberry and hyperball.

So here, too, the throwing skills of the players alone are not enough to secure these monsters. But the reddit user KrashTess is sure that he has now found the ultimate trick to be able to catch the Galar birds more easily in the future.

This is how the trick works: In his recent reddit post, user KrashTess shares a video posted by Twitter user JASHYZGO and captions it “Trick to Increase Galar Bird Catch Rate” (via reddit.com).

It features an encounter with a Galarian Zapdos from the Adventure Smoke. But instead of trying to catch the Pokémon directly, the trainer first selects his Ultra Balls and throws them on the ground one by one.

He does this more than 10 times until he finally feeds a golden raspberry and throws it at the Galarian Zapdos. He hits it with a fabulous shot and it actually stays in the ball right away.

Community is skeptical that this will work

In the reddit community, this tip is a great topic of conversation, because not all trainers are sure that this trick really works. So the player could just have been lucky when filming the video that this Pokémon of all things stayed in the ball.

However, a kind of “catch bonus” could also have been activated here. This should already be part of the raids, as the members of The Silph Road discovered last year. Accordingly, the chance of catching a raid boss increases if you throw more than 8 to 10 balls. In the wild, however, this should not work (via thesilphroad.com).

For this reason, the trainers of the reddit community are rather divided regarding the KrashTess trick, which is why you can read the following in the comments (via reddit.com):

  • Elwood_of_Pherae: “I’d like to leave that as is because it’s possible that it actually works, but it still requires a lot of research. We haven’t seen any evidence that wild Legendaries get the same pity catch bonus as Raid Encounters.”
  • rockysaytalk101: “So the idea is to waste 20 balls and then increase the catch rate, because Legendaries in raid encounters increase their catch rate at a certain number of balls […] I don’t know if that works for these savages. Does anyone know if this also applies to legendary encounters in the GBL [GO-Kampfliga] is applicable?”
  • KyleDelta: “It seems like it’s worth a try, but are we sure the ‘trick’ here isn’t hitting a level 8 Galar Zapdos?”
  • CskoGO: “I ran into a few level 1s and they fled on the first shake. I will definitely try that next time.”
  • HoldAlarmed5016: “Interesting idea, but I think the latest research has been that the ‘compassion bonus’ only applies to raid bosses, not wild encounters, so probably just luck. Still, probably worth a try, as long as we can get enough Poké Balls, what do we have to lose.”

Who is The Silph Road?
The Silph Road is a global community made up of trainers, dataminers, and Pokémon GO enthusiasts. Together they analyze the game and try to find out more about the processes and processes of Pokémon GO. For example, they record the different catch rates or shiny quotas. They then make their results publicly available to other trainers.

Does the trick work now? It is therefore not possible to say exactly whether the trick actually works, because there is still too little experience with it. In addition, it is not certain whether the bonus when catching also applies to legendary monsters in the wild or only in raids.

However, since the legendary Galar Pokémon are correspondingly rare and they usually flee after the first throw anyway, you can definitely try KrashTess’ tip once, provided the hyper balls aren’t too good for you.

How do you like the trick of KrashTess? Have you already managed to catch a Galar Bird from the Adventure Smoke? And will you try the tip next time? Feel free to write us your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.
