FIFA 23 Review

Once again the soccer simulator most acclaimed by many fans makes its entrance with a new edition. FIFA 23 promises to be the biggest edition in the entire history of this franchise and with some new generation improvements we will see my experience with the game step by step in order to reach the conclusion of whether or not it is worth acquiring it.

For many fans of the FIFA series, this is yet another installment with updated teams and a few other mechanics included. For others, it’s a big step in this new version of the game that they can’t wait to see. The community in sports video games is very mixed but at the same time something new (for better or worse) this new version of the game should bring itself.

The pitch is now graced with not only the acclaimed athletes we all know and have seen through the years at deliveries, but we now have the women’s team clubs as well. This adds an excellent touch of variety to the game considering from the point of view that this is nothing more than a greater variety of available players which means that we see some very low performers mixed with the most important ones.

One of the great improvements that the game has is that now we have integrated the statistics of the players, these help us to notice a huge difference in the gameplay and at the same time it makes us feel that each soccer player is really different. Let’s be clear, this is nothing more than a soccer simulator, so feeling the agility and skill of each individual player is something that should have come a long time ago.

At the same time, seeing how some footballers are not quite as athletic due to poor performance makes me analyze if this is really the case in real life. It gets even weirder when we start the career mode with lower league teams, the reality is that it feels pretty low not having the prowess of these big teams but I imagine EA is looking for us to really see the potential of having a premium athlete versus a standard athlete.

On the other hand we have the inclusion of crossplay, I am totally sure that many players have felt a bit frustrated not being able to play with their comrades on another platform but it really ended here. This will also be available from launch in FUT Division Rivals (except Co-op), FUT Champions, FUT Draft Online Ultimate and FUT Online Friendlies (except Co-op).

Let’s talk a bit about HyperMotion2

Now we have the technology HyperMotion2 What I tell you first hand is really impressive. The way real-world matches and training sessions were captured are unique as well as being directly translated into in-game animations ensuring that gameplay sessions now feel much more immersive.

Playing FIFA 23 became a totally unique experience where having the right immersion and good ambient sound makes us feel that we are really there, immersed in the game while our athlete runs around the field giving his best. With HyperMotion2 the AI ​​learns as you play, analyzing the best animations for your style of play and in-game action as it happens, creating smoother, more believable gameplay. All of this fits very well when combined with the gameplay and excellent graphic quality that the game currently possesses.

HyperMotion2 It is only available for new generation consoles, say PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in addition to Google Stadia and PC. These movements have been captured in an advanced way and with machine learning to produce new realistic animations throughout the field of play.

The gameplay of the game has changed a lot, now we can see the direction of the shots, even if they are low, as well as a more professional and realistic style of passing. On the other hand, the change of player is much easier and everything seems to indicate that EA has listened to the feedback from the community regarding this.

The career mode has improved a bit, this time we have the facility to improve our character by investing our salary in character improvements in addition to having a type of personality to choose and develop to use on the field. Imagining this as an RPG is kind of fun to be honest and I really think it’s a great addition to the game.

Something interesting is that now we can play and choose the coaches themselves together with the athlete. To give it even a little more flavor, we can choose between famous trainers also adapted to the appearance we want or leaving them as normal. All this is totally focused on the simulation part, in the end everything becomes more interesting.

In conclusion,

FIFA 23 It is the combination of all its previous deliveries with a little more flavor to the realism of the athletes. Improvements like HyperMotion2 and new mechanics make it the most complete soccer simulator to date. We cannot put aside the unpleasantness and imbalance of some athletes. Feeling the weight of a not very good athlete against another who is too good makes you feel at a disadvantage and there is no possibility that you can improve this player. Career Mode impresses with every installment, adding new technologies and features that make you really connect to feel like a real footballer.
