Game Ready Driver 517.48 WHQL: DLSS 2 for Flight Simulator on approach

Flight Simulator: Free city update for Germany, helicopters and gliders terminated

from Claus Ludewig
Graphics card manufacturer Nvidia has released the new WHQL driver 517.48. The Microsoft Flight Simulator gets support for DLSS 2.

It has been clear since last week that Nvidia’s new graphics cards are going to be expensive. At the market launch, entry into the RTX 4000 series costs from 1,099 euros for the RTX 4080 12 GiB. If you want the top model RTX 4090, you pay 1,949 euros RRP. Every graphics card of the Ada-Lovelace iteration comes with the new DLSS 3, which is supposed to bring a lot of performance. The Microsoft Flight Simulator can now also enjoy Deep Learning Super Sampling – but only with version 2 for the time being. The new one is used for this Graphics card driver Geforce Game Ready 517.48 WHQL.

What bugs does the new driver for Geforce graphics cards solve?

The Microsoft Flight Simulator received DLSS 2 last week with Sim Update 10 or Build 1.27.21.0. Nvidia itself also showed DLSS 3 at the presentation of RTX 4090 & Co., whereby the fps number should more than double. DLSS 3 includes technologies such as multi-frame generation, which generates frames that do not have to wait for the CPU. It will probably take until November before hobby pilots can take off with DLSS 3. The following bugs are said to have been solved for the Game Ready 517.48 WHQL driver:

  • The brightness setting is not applied correctly on certain Lenovo notebooks in dedicated GPU mode.
  • Windows 10: With certain notebook configurations, the “Nvidia GPU only” option is not retained on system restart.
  • Adobe Illustrator: Using Reduce Noise with Ray Tracing appears pixelated.
  • Windows 11: Chaos Vantage fails to launch when NVLink is enabled.
  • Adobe Photoshop: Fixes random crashes in DirectML.dll.
  • Fusion 360: Resolves performance issues when using variable refresh rate monitors.
  • In rare cases, video playback in the browser can result in a bugcheck code: 0x116.
  • Jurassic World Evolution 2: Game may display shadow flicker.
  • Native resolution is not available on Samsung U28R55/ ASUS VG249Q1A monitors.
  • Windows 11: Some UWP apps may experience lag when G-Sync is set to “Enable G-SYNC for windowed and full-screen modes” and “Vertical Sync” is different from default.
  • Fixes incorrect wording for Nvidia Control Panel → Manage 3D Settings → Shader Cache Size in German.
  • External displays connected to certain Razer notebooks via USB-C/Thunderbolt docks/dongles are not recognized
  • Reallusion Hub: The app crashes when launched on a PC with a CPU of 32+ logical processors.
  • DirectX 12: Microsoft Flight Simulator may show texture damage after prolonged play.
