Here’s Super Mario Bros 5: Fan spends seven years tinkering with the project in Super Mario Maker 2
A Mario fan has created an all new game inspired by the classic Mario games using Super Mario Maker 2.
Twitter user MetroidMike64 spent a total of seven years working on his creation, which he dubbed Super Mario Bros 5. The finished work is now available online.
A long journey
Metroid Mike64 began designing the first levels in Super Mario Maker on Wii U back in 2015, and his intention has always been that they should be part of a larger whole.
The World Maker in Super Mario Maker 2 made it even easier to achieve your dream. Block by block, he imported his levels from the Wii U to tie everything together.
yes Creating courses with the intention that “this’ll be my level 3-4” type of stuff. I didn’t want those SMM1 courses to go to waste so I painstakingly imported them block-for-block from my Wii U to my Switch. When the World Creator updated dropped, my dream became a reality. pic.twitter.com/vMhZwD8bYv

The final game consists of a total of eight worlds and 40 levels, so you have a bit of work to do.
According to MetroidMike64, its intention was for it to play like a game “Nintendo developed itself”. Of course, the old NES and SNES classics served as inspiration.
If you have Super Mario Maker 2, you can try it yourself with this code: 0G9-XN4-FNF.
The gameplay is all classic Mario. I’m not trying to troll you or purposely try to kill you, I’m trying to provide you with something Nintendo should’ve done already, make a full Mario game within Super Mario Maker 2, that’s fun as heck! pic.twitter.com/EXCiPtvsPp
