As Netflix announces, a new game development studio has just been founded in Helsinki, Finland. Former Zynga manager Marko Lastikka will take on the role of studio director.
Amir Rahimi, Netflix’s vice president of game studios, said the launch is “another step in building a world-class game studio.” In addition, the games should do without advertising and in-app purchases. Rahimi previously worked at mobile game publisher Scopely.
The reason why Helsinki was chosen was that some of the most talented game developers in the world work here. In addition to the new studio, the Finnish studio “Next Games” was founded last year, which developed games for the series “The Walking Dead” and “Stranger Things” for Netflix. And “Night School Studio” and “Boss Fight Entertainment” also work for the streaming service.
