Capcom’s action series Onimusha is being adapted as an anime series. The well-known Japanese director is responsible for the series Takashi Miike and Shinya Sugai by the animation studio Sublimation, which also created the much-criticized anime on Capcoms Dragon’s Dogma responsible.

The series will be released on Netflix. The streaming provider does not yet offer a trailer, but the first still images have been shared on the official anime channel on Twitter. Characters appear to use 3D models while backgrounds appear drawn. Set at the end of the Sengoku era in Japan, the Onimusha series mixes historical events with demons and other supernatural elements. The character of the legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi should the actor Toshiro Mifune be modeled after the one in many films by Akira Kurosawa played leading roles.
