WoW WotLK Classic: Learn to fly in Northrend – Everything about costs, requirements and location

You want to fly to Northrend? We show you all the information for flying in WoW WotLK Classic. Cold-weather flight has prerequisites and a high price.

What is it about? In order to fly in the areas of Northrend, you must first learn cold-weather flight. You can save up the costs for this when leveling up or earn them with professions.

How much does it cost to fly to Northrend? For the flight permit in Northrend you have to pay a whopping 1,000 gold. In the days of WotLK Classic, that’s a decent amount of money for casual players. Peanuts compared to retail though.

Buy Flies in Northrend – Where to Buy Cold Weather Flights

Prerequisite for flying in Northrend: In order to learn to fly in Northrend with your first character, you must have reached at least level 77. In order to do this, you must have acquired the skill “Advanced Riding”. For druids, the learned flight form is a prerequisite.

Here you can buy the flight license: In Northrend you have various contact points that sell you the cold-weather flight:

• Dalaran: You can learn Cold Weather Flight from NPC Hira Snow Dawn. You’ll find her on Krasus’ Landing, waving in circles on her cloudwing. This is the place where the flight master can also be found. With her you can also Tomes of Cold Weather Flight to buy. This allows your twinks to learn to fly from level 68.
• Storm Peak: In the village of K3 you will find Roxi Rammrocket. You can also learn to fly with her in Northrend. She walks around an airplane right next to the flight master.
• Sholazar Basin: At Riverbelly you will find Pilot Vic, who will also teach you to fly in Northrend. He’s right next to the flight master.
• You only need to speak to one of the NPCs to learn Cold Weather Flight.

No gold for flies in Storm Peaks? There are taxis

Flying without a license in Northrend? That’s fine. If you have a reason not to buy the Cold Weather Flight but need to fly to quests in the Storm Peaks, you can borrow air taxis from K3.

In Camp K3 you will find the NPC “Honest” Max. He will lend you flying animals once you have reached level 77. This also works without mastering cold-weather flight. However, the animals only fly in Storm Peaks, Icecrown and Sholazar Basin and only at 60% speed.

Cold weather flight for twinks

Precondition: If your first character has reached level 80 and learned cold-weather flight, you can unlock flight for your alts earlier. Visit Hira Snowdawn in Dalaran to purchase the Tome of Cold Weather Flight. Twinks can already use this at level 68 and thus unlock flying in Northrend.
