The PlayStation Store today launched a major new PSN Sale called ‘Planet of Discounts’ with 453 offers for PS4 and PS5. Among the deals are many big AAA games and also some PlayStation exclusives. The reboot of the series from 2019 delivers an exciting campaign that, in addition to the usual spectacularly staged action, also offers some tough and ruthless moments and a comparatively gloomy atmosphere. In multiplayer, Modern Warfare is much more down-to-earth than previous Call of Duty games. It reflects on the strengths of the original from 2007 and convinces with good gunplay, successful map design and a motivating progression system. Without deviating too much from the typical gameplay, the combat here is a bit more tactical than in many other parts of the series.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is also cheaper, either in the PS4 version for €23.09 or in the cross-gen bundle for €29.99. The varied campaign sends us to East Berlin, the Ukraine and the Yamantau Mountains on the hunt for a Russian terrorist. In flashbacks, we even take part in the Vietnam War. Of course, we get the usual Call of Duty bombast along the way, but there are some stealthy sections as well. The multiplayer is a fair bit faster than Modern Warfare, so it’s fine if you want a shooter that relies on quick reactions and accuracy, but not quite right if you’re more about tactics and teamwork.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – A PS5 launch must have
Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is now cheaper than ever on PlayStation Store at €34.79. In the spin-off of the big open-world hit, we return to New York, but this time we slip into the skin of Miles, who takes over for the absent Peter Parker. With it, new abilities like electric attacks and invisibility come into play, which open up completely new approaches for us. There are also technical improvements. Even on the PS4, Spider-Man: Miles Morales looks a tad better than the already pretty original. On the PS5 you can now see the smallest details on the street from the skyscrapers and, if you wish, switch on spectacular reflections through ray tracing.

The PS5 exclusive Demon’s Souls is a remake of the action role-playing game originally released for PS3, which is the origin of the now famous Souls series. Technically, the classic has been completely overhauled, and the many new details and lighting effects bring out the gloomy art design even better. In terms of gameplay, on the other hand, there are few changes apart from a few new convenience functions. In the five varied worlds, we still primarily engage in close combat with terrifying monsters. The level of difficulty is very high, but not quite as high as some other Souls games, making Demon’s Souls a good place to start.

In the horror game Little Nightmares 2, two children have to find a way out of a city infested with monsters. As in the first part, the sequel captivates at first glance with its fantastic art design, which mixes cuteness with darkness and surreal elements. The game world is much more varied and consists of five regions ranging from a dark forest to a hospital inhabited by creepy dolls. The gameplay delivers the proven mix of exploration, small puzzles, platforming and stealth sections. In contrast to the predecessor, this time we can defend ourselves against our enemies, at least in places with force of arms.

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot – In summary: That’s what the action RPG is about
The Dragon Ball Z Kakarot action role-playing game is a must for fans of the original because it lets you relive the entire story of the anime series, from Radditz’s arrival on Earth to the final conflict with Buu. Of course you will also visit many of the well-known places and characters. By the way, most of the time you don’t play Goku, but other fighters like Gohan and Piccolo. The combat system is quite complex and takes some getting used to, but it’s all the more fun later on, especially in the spectacular boss fights. Apart from these, a bit of monotony can creep in during the approximately 40 hours of play, but at least various mini-games provide variety.
