Ed Sheeran releases new Pokémon song Celestial - Here is the music video

Ed Sheeran’s new Pokémon song Celestial was released in the evening.

The song will be featured in the upcoming games Pokémon Crimson and Pokémon Crimson, which will be released on November 18, 2022 for Nintendo Switch.

Fascination for Pokemon

The music video for Celestial was inspired by Ed’s childhood fascination with Pokémon. It features Pokémon like Pikachu, Squirtle, Machamp and Snorlax.

“The video features Yu Nagaba’s unique sketchy art style, intended to evoke Ed Sheeran’s Pokémon drawings himself during his childhood days,” it said. “It’s full of surprises for fans and transports them back to the simpler times of their childhood when anything seemed possible.”

“I’ve been playing Pokémon since elementary school,” Ed Sheeran explained. “My brother and I had different editions of the games and traded Pokémon until we both completed our Pokédex. I loved the cards but I could lose myself completely in the games.”

“I really liked the whole world they created. She always distracted me when negative things happened in my life or school that I wanted to avoid. I was able to escape to this world and have been playing Pokemon ever since. Although I’m 31 now, I still own the same Game Boy Color and play Pokémon Yellow or Pokémon Silver on planes and trains on tour. It’s such an honor to contribute a song to a Pokémon game and make a nostalgic video at the same time. I hope you enjoy the song and the video – it was a lot of fun recording it!”
